Grand Company Conquest?

We need to implement something similar to Conquest from Final Fantasy XI. The Grand Companies need some additional sort of competitive measure. Maybe this has already been announced and if so please direct me to the post.

I think it should be similar to Conquest in that at each aetheryte camp you could turn in crystals, items, etc... to improve your conquest score. Monsters killed would also influence your grand companies ranking. The owner of the area would have reduced anima cost to the zones under control of their company.

I had thought of something similar, but with less implications of occupation (control), more of a superior presence. Also, my thought was to have it ties to Hamlet Defense, such that the company that performs best in one defense gains the presence in the hamlet, with additional bonuses to actions between battles as well as the next defense at that hamlet, and even seal rewards are a possibility. Perhaps that should include a reduced anima cost to the closest aetheryte camp. I kinda like that idea.

This way it doesn't even have to be a blatant competition in lore, just the GC's coming to the aid of the hamlets. But the underlying mechanics would encourage competition.

There is GC PvP battle royale planned for v2.0. Hamlet defense is not competitive between the GC.

1. Not everyone cares about direct PvP, and thus would need a different outlet for GC competition.
2. I still haven't heard a compelling reason as to why Hamlet Defense shouldn't have some kind of indirect competitive element mixed in.
