Packets losses & error 90001 on Valefor (Gaia)

Good morning,

I play in Valefor (Gaia).
Platform is PC and I use a wired connection.

Last time I played (dungeon and such) was on Saturday night October 12th, and everything was fine.
But since today Monday October 14th, I have got a lot of freezes due to packets losses, and error 90001 happens quite frequently.

I have tested ping and tracert in command prompt :
- there is no whatsoever issue with www.google.com
- there are packets losses and request timeout with 124.150.157.157 (Gaia World IP)
When testing my internet connection with speedtest.net, I have 7 ms ping, and around 80 Mbps for both download & upload.

I don't know if these issues are somewhat related with the typhoon aftermath, but I would like to understand what is happening.

Good morning,

Yesterday (Monday) since 08:30 AM until 11:30 PM (Japan Time), I have made 'ping 124.150.157.157' (Gaia World IP) and 'tracert 124.150.157.157' tests on a regular basis (a couple of each test every 30min or so). Although I did not save the results, there were like this :
- for the ping test : between 0% and 75% packets loss with request timeout, and most of the time there were 25% packets loss.
- for the tracert test : many '***' in betwwen traceroute hops, and often but not every time, a 'unable to reach destination' message which ends the test.

So far in order to alleviate the issue, I have rebooted the router and the laptop, checked the cables, but nothing has changed.

Nonetheless, today Tuesday morning 10:00 AM (Japan Time), I opened Command Prompt and restarted ping and tracert tests for Gaia IP.
And all tests run smoothly : 0% packet loss, trace complete without '***' nor 'request time out'.
So, I launched FFXIV to see if all the in-game issues I had yesterday were gone, and they were : the game runs as smoothly as before, I no longer freeze whenever I interact with something or when I teleport, I can perform combos without any delay.

So, it looks like the issues were resolved during the night or this morning.
I hope it stays like this, but I don't know whether it's Ok to close the thread as 'Resolved' or to leave it in 'Stand by' for a few more days.

Do you experience any disconnections anywhere else in game? Please make sure the game is allowed through the fire wall and please also try the following:

Open the IE browser, open the "Tools", go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
- Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
- Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
- Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
- Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
- Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
- Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.
- Right-Click on the FFXIV launcher icon and select "Properties"
- Go to the "Compatibility" tab, and change the compatibility mode to "Windows 7"
- Hit "Apply", then "OK" to save the changes.
- Please RESTART your PC now. Once your PC has been restarted, Right-Click the FFXIV launcher icon once more and select "Run as Administrator"

Yesterday tuesday all day long I didn't have any in-game issue, and 'ping 124.150.157.157' & 'tracert 124.150.157.157' tests went smoothly.

But this wednesday morning around 10:45 AM (Japan Time) as I launched FFXIV to check with my squadron, I got freezes during teleport and whenever I interact with a door or a npc, and I go disconnections (error 90001) several times during that short trip from my house to the squadron.

So between 10:50 AM and 11:20 AM (Japan Time) I made ping & tracert tests, and the results were awful.
During these tests, I came here on the forum to check if there was a reply, and I realize that I didn't have Internet Explorer 11 installed at all. I mean, IE comes automatically with Win10, but I remembered that as I only use Chrome, I uninstalled IE aroud 1 year ago forgetting that FFXIV use IE... but, FFXIV has worked just fine since then.

In any case, I download IE 11 and went in the 'Internet Options' as suggested :
- I deleted browser history
- under Security tab, the slider was on Medium setting, I moved it to the lowest possible setting
- under Privacy tab > Advanced, both First Party and Third Party cookies were already accepted
- under Avdanced tab, I left 'SSL 3.0' unchecked ; 'TLS 1.0', 'use TLS 1.1' and 'use TLS 1.2' were already checked ; and I checked 'use TLS 1.3 (experimental)'
- then Apply > OK > changed compatibility mode to Win7 in the FFXIV launcher icon > OK > Restart > Run FFXIV as Administrator

By this time it was 12:20 PM (Japan Time), and I've not encountered in-game issue since then ; no problem regading the ping and tracert tests neither.

I don't know if adjusting these IE settings has improved the situation, although as I said eearlier, IE has been uninstalled on my laptop for almost a year now and FFXIV hasn't encounter issues at all. Or maybe it is just sheer coincidence.

If it can help, I provide you with some of the 'ping 124.150.157.157' (Gaia World IP) and 'tracert 124.150.157.157' that I made between 10:50 and 11:20 AM (Japan Time) below.

According to your trace routes, you're running into some issues pretty early in your route. This is causing instability (inconsistent return times) throughout your entire route. This is usually cause by congestion or routing issues along the way to the server. Unfortunately, there isn't much to be done in regards to your home network, so I'd recommend contacting your ISP and making a report with them.
