From the GM side if you were being disruptive to outside of the party with the argument, the more disruptive would get punished. That's human nature of a police/militant/dictatorship state. From the other side of the coin, I'm not sure why both parties are not punished as SE often states that they will never interfere with the dealings of players between themselves; but when they do its always militant action taken. There judgement and penalty was cast prior to yo going to GM jail. This is the two dogs on a porch scenario. One agitates and the other bites. The agitator, no matter how large or small a role they played, usually never gets punished.

As it was stated this is very untrue, the GMs usually do see both sides, and punishment is given to anyone who managed to do something in the logs (Obviously nothing the can do if its not in the logs) I'm just trying to gather some information in it personally. It's a sucky scenario it really is, but most of us are adults, it just perked my curiosity is all. Being the man I am I like to look into things and rack up numbers.. ;w; it's a weird... curiosity I guess.

What do you mean by "hearing your side" ?
If you did or said something that is against the TOS, then you broke the rules and you can get warned or punished for that.
It does not really matter if you got provoked or not, you are still held responsible for what you do or say.

As for how common your experience is, I can't say for sure since I am not a GM, nor have I ever been warned by a GM. Judging from second-hand reports here on the forums, I think the way you got treated is pretty much standard procedure when GMs get involved - they can see in the logs what was actually said so there is no need for them to hear anyones side.

I know, I'm glad you decided to put your input in, however the question was kind of pointed to people who have had something similar happen in order to just grab some simple numbers for an assignment as previously stated.

GMs just apply the ToS, they are not judges, they just apply penalties according to their policy. They are also not allowed to disclose anything about what led them to this decision, and can just give you a vague reason.
I don't really understand what kind of numbers you want. In that case I'd say more than 99% of warnings and bans issued are due to ToS break and that's pretty much the end of it.

You're good! I understand completely and anticipated some people might take it oddly. It just works for a statistics assignment I'm currently doing, and plan to tie into an English assignment as well, I'm not creative at all, so all this happened at a time that actually gave me something to base it off of. (At the rate this is going I'm contemplating tying in post of people misunderstanding too. xD )

Its not just logs ... SE can deceide what they want to accept as prove and it can be anything.

We had a thief who stole from fc bank (blabla you allowed it, im sure you still know what i mean) he stood on the yard linking all items they took ... we called it out on twitter and got an official warning for out twitter account.

Dont be fooled into thinking only in game matters, if someone is pissy and you have mods in the pics you post SE can come for you ... and to my knowledge the thief who disrupted the peace of the FC by being a dick on the yard linking the stuff they got ... didnt get a warning.
