
^This right here.Well, you replied with a *stare* to my post about Quebec, I thought you were distressed about Quebec being excluded. The "item" doesn't leave Japan, but the laws about international contests are based on the country of residence of the contestant. It doesn't matter where you or the prize physically are, it depends on your residency.
Because there is a "prize" associated with this contest (beyond getting your entry named the winner), they cannot opt everyone in automatically, they must be opted in country by country after considering the laws and restrictions of international contests for each individually.
I hope they do something for your region, but until then know that an international contest really is a huge legal undertaking. There are even different laws for residents within the same country sometimes! (See Vermont and Quebec)
