I swear its like they have a "stupidty tester" when they go for contest or new stuff.
Do they SERIOUSLY think everyone is gonna be like "oh ok its not for us"?
We are ALL paying customers, we are SUPPORTING THIS GAME since it was a baby born with lots of defective issues, we have been supporting and promoting you for a long ass time and you cant even give everyone the chance to participate in a single contest?
What the hell is up with these stupid " x country only" stuff?
I think it is more because your country has restrictions and other obstacles getting in the way of such contests. If that isn't the case, and SE just doesn't have the resources to extend the contest to all regions, I don't understand why getting jealous and excluding everyone from participating is a better option.I swear its like they have a "stupidty tester" when they go for contest or new stuff.

The day you guys run a company and want to do an international contest only to realize how insanely difficult and costly it is you'll stop complaining.
These restrictions aren't done because SE hates the rest of the world, it's because setting up contests with actual/physical prizes aren't easy to organize at all and all sorts of international laws need to be considered including things like age restrictions, value of the prize (some countries will allow more, some less) and pretty much every little detail.
So seriously stop crying all the time, it's not their fault. I've had to run contests in my line of work before and you have no idea how difficult it is to run these things (legally).
They also might be planning to do other similair/identical contests for other regions and just haven't posted them yet?

Oh please, don't be an gullible fool. Or a white knight. Not sure which. Either way, don't be.The day you guys run a company and want to do an international contest only to realize how insanely difficult and costly it is you'll stop complaining.

Did we complain when they had the moogle doll contest? No. We realize SE has to deal with things such as shipping and country laws or getting goods outside said country (although this is BS, a single doll is less than 50$ and doesn't even get taxed).
We are complaining because this is an ingame item. DO tell whats stopping SE from making this a world wide contest. Do explain to me how your line of work has taught you this to be a difficult task.
The servers are staying whereever they are. Adding some 0s and 1s doesn't go against any law in the world.
So please don't try and paint SE as the underdog. FFS we are talking about a multi million video game company.

Ah yes, personal attacks. Those work great. I'm probably the least white knight person on these forums btw.
Like I said, I'm assuming they'll either have a similar contest for other regions or they've put those rules on for whatever reason. I'm bummed out I can't participate myself but so what?
Also, the issue isn't as black and white as you put it. Virtual items actually have had real value in the past, for example in the case of the boy convicted of theft for stealing an item in Runescape, rr in the other case of the English man being convicted for hacking his Zynga poker account and stealing loads of in-game cash.
Now I'll agree 100% that it's absolute bonkers, but that doesn't mean everyone thinks the same.

Huh? Its not a physical prize, so what are you talkings abouts? The day you guys run a company and want to do an international contest only to realize how insanely difficult and costly it is you'll stop complaining.

Except this one does not involve anything physical at all. Contest entries are forum posts. Contest prize is an in-game item. I'm pretty sure my country doesn't require me to pay import taxes to get an Ifrit's Cane. The day you guys run a company and want to do an international contest only to realize how insanely difficult and costly it is you'll stop complaining.

IF this game had microtransactions AND the prize was one normally only available on a cash shop, then I would accept this reasoning.
Cool!
Care to tell us what could get in the way of a contest like this one where there's no actual real life or monetary gain whatsoever?
Other regions that will still exclude people that don't fall into any of their chosen regions, sure can happen.

I never said it did. I was just making a general statement. I'm sure others will not read this and attack me just the same way.
Like I said, the issue isn't as easy as it sounds. You'll be surprised how many cases regarding virtual items and currency actually lead to prosecution. No matter the prize it's still a contest based on chance and thus could be not allowed by certain laws.
I'm not an expert in the field and I assume most people here aren't so I'm not going to claim I'm 100% correct as most people love to do around here.
Obviously. This is Square Enix we're talking about.![]()

Hmmm, even if they do plan to add similar contests/prizes for all other regions, they are doing a very, very bad way at PR. If they indeed plan to do it, then they should have stated so visibly, or do they really not expect people to react to an absence of such statement?
