so i have this idea so that healer is actually active in healing more than DPS-ing

    1. Make it so that healer have a gauge that can only be accumulated by healing and raise (don't count overheal), that can be used to dish out a BIG Dps

    and

    2. Decrease the normal Dps spell potency (Glare/Broil/Etc)

The idea is to make people who actually heal and care for your party can dish out more damage than people who just throwing stone... Its frustrating to see a healer casting Glare in e4s last phase...

(I'm not a healer main not play healing a lot but i just want to share my though... any opinion is welcomed!)

Ps. English is not my first language i do hope this is understandable
Not to be rude, but every problem you have is a sign of good game design regarding the healers. Beyond that, what you want only serves to just reduce healer dps. the only way to make it frowned upon in the community is to remove it entirely.

I think you should back off on this one, nobody will realistically accept what you're advocating for since it just sounds like you're playing with bad healers or greedy healers

The only problem I have are healers that refuse to heal even if it's needed if someone took extra damage, or the ones that refuse to heal because I am a white mage so naturally I can heal everything, I have to cast 2 extra gcd heals during high damage phases because the scholar probably decided to use his aetherflows for energy drain, that's fucking annoying and disrespectful. Healing the bare minimum is the thing you are aiming for, but sometimes shit hits the fan and you have to gcd heal if someone made a mistake, it's your fucking job, do it even if you miss 1 gcd. I usually have insane healing percentages in fflogs with normal overheal because the co-healer just refuses to heal, my first titan kill had me at 99% healing and something like 60% in damage, I wish fflogs would show damage and healing combined so this insane dps hogging would stop, keeping people alive is still the priority.

Bring back buffs. Let healers have stuff like Protect, Shell, etc back. Give them something to do that's not healing or DPS. It's ridiculous that these were removed to begin with.

protect was stupid, there was nothing to play around with, it was on always and that's it, now if they would have changed it to a meaningful buff that would last like 20 seconds and made it oGCD that would have been cool, like an extra defensive cd to tanks. Shell could be a similar buff but for magic damage.

How about offensive buffs like Faith, Bravery, Haste, etc.?

I would like that, of course they would have to balance them across different healers but I have always loved buffing. That is why I liked the old astro.

I once played an awful free-to-play MMO (which I won't name drop) that had a class mechanic for the "more healing"-focused healer. Every time you cast any spell, regardless of type (heal, damage, buff), it would give you a 5 second buff that increased your passive MP regeneration by 10%. It stacked up to 10 times, giving you a maximum of doubled MP recovery. Now, with MP economy being what it is in this game, obviously that specific reward wouldn't be nearly as attractive. But imagine. A passive ability, that doesn't interfere with anything else you're doing, that provides a meaningful reward for riding your GCD whether you're healing, damaging, or passing out buffs that leaves a bit of wiggle room and rewards you for playing the game correctly. What a world that would be.

    Edit: (Misread.)

Doesn't that just indicate too high a base cost on (filler) spells if you need a mechanic just to be able to continue casting consistently?

Any spell. Not healing spells. Any. A reward for keeping your casts consistently rolling, which *is* playing the game correctly.
