Just gonna say that I've saved quite a few players with rescue.
Did Eden 4 with my friend which was his first time - he's a Tank.
On our 3rd run he stood in the wrong place and was going to die, so I rescued him and saved his life.
"Why'd you rescue me for??"
"Because you were standing on the wrong side derp face"
"oh .... Thanks"
Allow rescue and it's on a 2min cooldown. Just be glad that it cannot be used outside of combat.
Only time I use it is in DF when that one rdm or bard wants to be in china and out of my star when I'm an astro so I pull their a** inside it.
I dislike this skill as a tank, I don't like mass pulls. It's not enjoyable for me to just spam AOE buttons. I don't trust random healers to heal through it. Even when I am playing as healer I don't like big pulls, I'm just panic pressing heals, I do t know how any healer can enjoy big pulls, and yet they almost always want to yank me ahead. I hate it it needs to go.
What they should do is change the way the skill works. Make it like cover, but instead of sharing damage you just don't get hit if healer does not get hit by AOE. Or if healer is in protective AOE they share that effect with you for the duration of the effect. That way the skill retains its intended purpose and removes the annoying yank.
I haven't seen it much, but I agree that this kind of thing could easily be misused to harass players. I wouldn't mind people being able to opt out of it; abilities like that are a bad idea to begin with. I never use the ability when I'm healing, and I wouldn't want healers yanking me out of position and screwing up my rotation just because they think they can micromanage fights. Most of the time I imagine the ability just makes things worse for everyone.
This does take me back to one of my favorite troll abilities in WoW, which was the Hunters Misdirect. Basically just a kill anyone in your party you want to for whatever reason you want to button. Misdirect enemies onto random party member, watch him die and then feign death to escape. Some of the bad ideas that get implemented in MMO's are pretty amazing. It's like the people who design these abilities have never seen an online community before. . ; )

They can remove Rescue when:
1. The entire playerbase is familiar with every single mechanic, and is no longer human thus incapable of ever making mistakes.
2. People don't ignore mechanics/stand in the fire deliberately.
2. Self-absorbed DPS stop standing outside of AoE healing range.
Until then, I'll continue to spare party members from an untimely death. Thanks. If anything, they should fix the delay on the spell, not remove it entirely.

1. Healers figure out that some classes have shields and keep track on when a shield is used ur not
2. People stop being trolls. (thankfully you can report those apparently.)
3. Healers stop being incompetent and pulling you INTO AoE by accident.
4. Healers stop pulling you out of your Leylines because they think you NEED to be in AoE heal range despite the fight having little to none unavoidable raid wide damage, but rather makes it so that if everyone is stacked everyone will have to dodge more mechanics.
Until then, I rather not have PUG healers being able to interrupt my burst phase because they are so terrified that my shield will disappear.
Learn, explore, and think for yourself. Make your choices, take actions, and let yourself be free.
No one is deliberately pulling people into AoEs that aren't friends to begin with. They NEED to remove Rescue until:

Your damage numbers aren't more important than respecting other players; in this case, 1-2 healers that have to waste valuable CDs on you because you're deliberately ignoring mechanics and think a pitiful shield on a non-tank class actually does more than shave a tiny sliver of damage off. You can teleport back to your Leylines, anyway, so why does it even matter?
If the thought of someone actually caring about other players in their party bothers you so much, then don't queue through Duty Finder. It's that simple.
Manaward shields for 30% of the black mage's max hp. No black mage is eating things with it that they expect to not kill them. Thats how its always worked and what the skill is for. You clearly havent played much blackmage. No one is deliberately pulling people into AoEs that aren't friends to begin with.

Its not just about leylines, theres interrupted casts, which can lead to dropped enochian, fewer fire 4s in a window, and delayed xenoglossy's, etc. Your petty healer cooldown, or, god forbid a gcd not spent on glare at worst aint more important than respecting other players.
