    Namazu Quest Reference

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I was wondering if a line of dialogue in one of the Namazu beast tribe quests is a reference to another game, Civilization VI: The Rise and Fall, which was released a few months prior to the release of the patch that brought the Namazu quests to XIV.

The line in question is part of the promotion quest "Out of the Frypan", said by Seigetsu the Enlightened:

The dialogue itself isn't particularly out of place from the context of the quest, but with the "Volume VI", I wondered if it this was more than just a coincidence.

If anyone in the know from the Lore team reads this, I'd be interested to know. Thanks!

I hadn't made the connection, myself, but it's possible! Especially since "culture victories" are a big thing in Civ 6.

A lot of the books referenced in the Namazu quests are obvious homages to real books. This could be another homage, albeit not a book this time.

The real-life books referenced in the namazu quests were discussed here.

You aren't the first to wonder if this particular "book" is a reference to the game, but I don't think so. It's more likely a reference to The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, which happens to be a six-volume work.

Exactly! This is another reason why I thought it may be a subtle reference to the game.

Thanks for the link to the previous discussion. It being a reference to The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire makes more sense considering the references to books from the other quests. Thanks for pointing it out, I wouldn't have thought about the connection with it being a six-volume work!
