Unable to complete version check did fresh reinstall 3 times

Hello! Every since I had a rather large windows 10 update this morning, I cannot play the game. This afternoon I was able to log in the game, it opened but on the start screen, I couldn't interact or click on any of the options such as "Start" I had to close the game with task manager. My mouse was working just fine! It's as if there was something interacting with the games overlay? I uninstalled Discord AND Steam and reinstalled Steam and clicked off the overlay option. Still had the errors pop up. I can log into World of Warcraft just fine, and every other game works without a problem. So next time I tried opening FFXIV launcher again and trying to log in I was met with "unable to complete version update" error. I don't recall all the error numbers as there was many of them. I tried restarting my laptop like 20 times and shut it down completely, restarted windows, then opening the game again (through Steam) and still getting the same errors. I am on my third install now *ouch* and this time is the first time I saw the licensed agreement pop up to sign in to. What could be causing this issue and what can I do to fix the issue (besides reinstalling 3 times) so I can play again?

Good afternoon and thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

The error you are receiving happens when there is a problem connecting to the game's servers. Are you connected directly to the router? Is Final Fantasy XIV allowed through the fire wall?

I should also state that I also tried unplugging and re-plugging my router already to restart my network. Everything is loading fine, no disconnects and other games run just fine.

So I have done my third reinstall and still getting the launcher error "Unable to complete version update [30426] [1990] [740]

I did not lose connection during download. It *seemed* to install just fine. This is not on my end, it seems. It would be nice to get a reply on how to fix this without uninstalling for a 4th time! I am going on 2 days with the game being unplayable. What is the fix?

If this is not fixed, I will be forced to cancel my subscription. I don't want to do that because I love this game.

Good morning and thank you for the reply.

    Could you try the following:

Open the IE browser, open the "Tools", go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:

    - Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
    - Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
    - Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
    - Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
    - Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
    - Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.
    - Right-Click on the FFXIV launcher icon and select "Properties"
    - Go to the "Compatibility" tab, and change the compatibility mode to "Windows 7"
    - Hit "Apply", then "OK" to save the changes.
    - Please RESTART your PC now. Once your PC has been restarted, Right-Click the FFXIV launcher icon once more and select "Run as Administrator"
