Funnily enough, in French that line does not mention streets at all. It's a fancy turn of the sentence but it would sound like "The white coral walls borne by the city of the last pleasures remind those of Limsa Lominsa"

Well, the 5.1 special site just launched, and its revealed that the Grand Cosmos is

in neither Eulmore OR Il Mheg, But good ol Lakeland.

I had to double take the blurb. "On the shore of the Source"... wait, what? ! Oh, the lake...

I'm wondering if this mage is maybe a little like Matoya of the First.

I'm expecting Astos to be the final boss of the dungeon or the mage in question. Given we're likely seeking out this mage for help with sending the Scions back, I do feel there are a few nice reference points to play off there.

It's not in Lakeland. It says on the "far shore" of the Source - over the horizon from anywhere we've visited yet.

the design of the castle makes me think Haukke Manor 2.0 (or 3.0 if you consider Hard mode)

I think this is the most likely outcome given the "when a mage claimed it as their sanctuary, their only company being solace, solitude, and the legion of familiars" quote.

As to where it is, I would say it's still technically Lakeland, as Silvertear in the source was a lake you could ride all the way around in 1.0 and the Source is just a reflection of that.

My 1.0 memory is fuzzy, but didn't Silvertear technically span a large area to the west as well? Past Silvertear Falls. Or rather, it should have, but the aftermath of the Battle of Silvertear Skies effectively drained the lake, reducing it to what we have these days. With no Battle of Silvertear Skies in the First, it stands the reason the lake is much more expansive than what we have on the Source.

Although now that I think about it, I don't think Silvertear Falls (or would that be Source Falls on the First?) isn't oddly absent on the First. Different geological history and all that, but it's a shame if nothing else, we get a really amazing shot of the Falls in 1.0s opening cinematic, would have been nice to see a recreation of that.
