But, for others it is not what they had imagined. You just have to look at games like SWTOR and GW2 to see that their repeatable story segments give not only XP, but have all manner of extra difficulty levels, challenges and achievements with all sort of rewards. That is the level we have been presented to such features (at least in the west, wich might be the problem). The way it is being presented to us in FFXIV is not to a level we are happy with. It is a very poor effort for something that is taking so many resources. So, i don't think it is unreasonable for it to at least give XP so people can enjoy leveling a job while doing the story again. That is what i had in mind and my expectation of this system fell sorely flat.
It's not about you. You are happy, you got what you wanted, it's not gonna go away. But others expected more and want to express that. I think we do deserve a better feature. Would you feel the system would be any less if more was added?
You really need to stop speaking in absolutes. They never presented New Game+ as an alternate leveling experience. In fact, they did precisely the opposite through their emphasise on it being for those who wanted to replay the story. Likewise, you keep insisting this costs a ton of resources. While neither of us know for certain. It isn't difficult to speculate the opposite is once again true. High development costs typical occur from art design and animation. Such is why battle content can be among the most expensive aspects of a game. New Game+ has neither of these things. All they have to do is create a system that unchecks the MSQ flag. It's unlikely this costs much considering it's backend coding which doesn't have nearly the equivalent cost.

You continue to draw this correlation between enjoying leveling and the story. You can already "enjoy" leveling through a myriad of ways. For a lot people who wanted New Game+, the story is all they cared about. Adding experience would just see many people mass skipping cut scenes because they never cared about the story to begin with. They just wanted an even faster way to level.
