Worthless if it doesn't at least reward experience.

So don't do it. It's fine. There are lots of duties I'd personally love to revisit and replay. I never expected to get experience from this just the ability to relive those and it's be a highly requested addition.

According to the Eorzean Database the quest that gives you entrance to Prae does award a Fantasia.

You get it for beating the base game for the first time. I held onto mine for like a year and a half, and then I only used it to give myself a light beard.

Note that I joined after Stormblood was already a thing, so I'm not sure if it was always like that. For all I know, this could have been patched in with Heavensward or something.

New game plus should just be - go back relive fights that Unending Journey doesnt provide.

I in fact believe it was patched in Heavensward.... or at the very latest 3.3, because I am certain I got a free Fantasia for beating the ARR MSQ then, but no, it was not part of vanilla 2.0 quests rewards for "The Ultimate Weapon".

i believe they added it after Veteran rewards got killed
so if you have been playing before HW or when HW started you probably never got it

The free Fantasia for completing the quest “The Ultimate Weapon” was added after they shifted to the new Veterans Rewards system. Originally, you would get a Fantasia for 30 days subscribed (I believe that was the correct tier), but since that’s not a thing anymore, I think they added it to the final quest of 2.0 to sort of make up for newer players losing access to that Veteran Reward tier.

As for new game plus, I think it is incredibly selfish of people to expect a reward and then call it useless feature because it doesn't do what they think it should do.

At no point did anyone say it was a viable source of progression (be it financial or experience-wise) and the vast majority of players thought "oh cool, I can go do things again with my leveled character, glamour and foresight of knowing how the story has progressed and picking up on references".

In just doing MSQ roulette, we listen to Gaius and Lahabrea talk about gods and now we have a further understanding of motive due to how the story has gone. Who knows what other bits of lore were missed due to slight hints or lesser understanding at the time?

As is the way with anything in this game, if you don't like the content, don't do it. There are literally dozens of other things to do for the casual player and if you're stuck for things to do, there are hundreds of other games out there to play.
