At this point the only thing I can really say is:
Just like how Ultimate fights aren't made for everyone.
And Savage isn't for everyone.
Maaaaaaaaaybe this content isn't for everyone, too.

While true, this is yet another feature that could benefit from appealing to as many people as possible. What they really did wasn't...well, that. And that's largely okay...it just seems like something they do a lot. Hype a feature up, only to disappoint people when the details emerge.

The feature was never advertised to grant experience or be an alternative way to level other jobs. If people were expecting that and hyped themselves up over it, they only have themselves to blame for their disappointment. New Game Plus was only ever advertised as a feature to replay previously completed quests. While true, this is yet another feature that could benefit from appealing to as many people as possible. I'm aware. See above. The feature was never advertised to grant experience or be an alternative way to level other jobs. What I said still applies. Especially to the bolded part. At least you acknowledge that you were setting yourself up for disappointment. Others seem to have just expected it, and then have thrown a fit that it’s not meeting their expectations. It was never said, no. And personally I would have been surprised if they kept ALL of the rewards available for players going through NG+. Exp though? I figured that was a safe bet. Sadly I lost that bet, but there was always a chance of that happening. That's fine though, it really is. People can spam PotD and HoH and Fates to get themselves to 70 (and you know, buy their way through jump potions), probably in a shorter time frame compared to NG+. I don't really see the issue there. It wouldn't mess with any sort of balance. It would just add another option and that's not a bad thing. MMOs thrive on replay value, after all. I just think NG+ could be made better (and used by many) if people could gain exp from it.
People would just spam the beginnings of an MSQ for easy experience. They wouldn’t use it for the intended purpose of replaying the story—it would become an EXP farm (complete with cutscene skipping) and nothing more. The intended purpose isn’t another avenue for leveling. It’s for the replay experience for those who want to do the story again—a feature that’s been requested many times in the past without asking for rewards to be tied to it.
Which is exactly what this is offering. People are just angry that they can’t get free shinies from it.MMOs thrive on replay value, after all.

I mean, sure it was advertised in order to revisit the story, but adding additional rewards or something behind it wouldn't be painful either to be honest. I wasn't expecting anything big, maybe some exp for completing X amount of quests, just something to be useful beyond revisiting the story. The feature was never advertised to grant experience or be an alternative way to level other jobs. If people were expecting that and hyped themselves up over it, they only have themselves to blame for their disappointment. New Game Plus was only ever advertised as a feature to replay previously completed quests.
Besides, one thing many games use NG+ for is when the game has paths to choose, but this game has no branching paths to choose so I can't even say it's good for that! I get it it's an mmorpg but, it would've been more valuable if our choices mattered and NG+ allowed us to explore different choices.
Honestly, my main concern is that the time and energy spent for this feature, which people can practically do already by replaying the game with an alt, could be used for improving other features that could use extra help ("cough" blue mage "cough").

Being able to explore different choices on the same character actually makes choice irrelevant. For choice to matter, you should be limited to explore only the consequence of your choice. Create a different character if you want to explore another choice.
That said, choice also only matters if it can lead to a different ending. An MMORPG that relies on story continuation rather than multiple endings is not a good fit as it will just complicate the story if you need to account for each choice.
A good example is SWTOR as the choices in that game become largely irrelevant the further you progress through the story. In fact, there seems to be a bug where certain choices reset to default values. And if you create a boosted character, there is only a predetermined set of choices that character could've taken.

The name of the feature is misleadin, should have been named Replay, Chonicles, or Memoire Mode, but not NG plus imo, if quests, story ect cant get done with rewards, to incentivize plauer to replay the story
I was also looking forward to level some more jobs with the help of the msq, since I am mainly a "story player", but I will use New Game + even if it doesn't give any experience. I just might wait until the revamp of ARR so I can replay the story from beginning to current point, just because I would like to put all my fragmented memories together and look at the whole picture. In any case, it's a feature I am happy to welcome!

Dont ever recall them stating youd get exp and rewards with it. Again, this point was not a typical point brought up in most discussions regarding NG+. It almost always was about being able to replay parts of FFXIV, not be a tool for leveling. So as far as I know, they never hyped the feature as a means of leveling. They hyped it as "Hey, you can replay some of your favorite MSQ stuff," and left it at that. Anything beyond that is the playerbase hyping it.While true, this is yet another feature that could benefit from appealing to as many people as possible. What they really did wasn't...well, that. And that's largely okay..it just seems like something they do a lot. Hype a feature up, only to disappoint people when the details emerge.
Beyond this, I do wonder if people even consider the ramifications of adding exp to it? Far as I know, theyve never said it wont give exp (I could be mistaken), but if there was 0 consequence to having exp and everything going for it do it that way, the devs wouldve just added that aspect. But I suspect that why you dont get exp is that itd screw with other leveling aspects of the game to much.
