    Still have to see what the new skills are, job quests, and what else the log has going for it, so there is a lot of room for "more info"- and so I'm not fixed on any feeling, just a quick take (and up for change) feeling on reading the changes coming to blue mage.
    Aren't all FFXIV jobs disappointing from their counterpart to XI?

    I feel you on how XIV messed up your favorite job, I definitely feel that way about XIV Dancer, and XIV red mage and XIV Summoner.

    I love being able to dual welding, able to heal, buff and debuff, there so much more and it feels so satisfying to play, I'm having a really good time and it's so much fun.(DNC/WAR)




    XIV Dancer feels very boring to play and uninteresting, I dabbled in it a few times and got one level up and never touched it again. Sad as I was hoping it was great. It I will never touch it again.

    To be fair it is different games, I guess XI battles and the world feel more engaging than XIV and I just started XI like last year lol.

    Just waiting for XI remastered or big news for XI 20th anniversary

    Nope, not gonna touch this job again.
    I feel waste of time to level this job to 50 just to experience the despair of primal’s spell farming that worse than 2.0 Atma.

    In a way but I feel it's almost a different genre. Slow strategy game vs fast action game. We can't have a jumbo list of situational spells here. Less decision-making in xiv combat, more reactive aoe dodging and executing memorised button rotation.

    Well there really is a XI reboot for mobile in development but they've been SO QUIET about it for a very long time. Yoshida knows about its state of progress because it's overseen by the same division of S-E that xiv is a part of. He just hasn't commented or been asked about it in any recent interviews I've seen.

    Have mine at 42 and still haven't touched it. It was fun getting the spells at first but overtime the frustration really sets in. Now that we're reaching level 60 content and BLU is going to be taken into Thordan EX, Sephirot EX, Niddhog EX it's going to be so awful. The spells either need to be completely worth it or there's just no point in even trying.

    So suddenly even though it should be a solo only job (with quite a bit of instanced needed content for the skills...)we might get some kind of blue only duty? So do they mean completely new instances? Or certain old dungeons? Because if its the first then why put that much work behind something nearly death as blue, and if its the second, why suddenly give it access to duties when you wanted it to be a solo job?

    Anyway I have finally gotten it to lvl 50 to try out the carnival, which seems to be quite boring right now. Cant go much further because I still need a lot of skills from dungeons and trials..so I am far far away from trying out this "new" stuff in 5.1...also how will they make sure that the blue mages in the group will have the necessary skills to beat these duties?

    Also I really hate the RNG behind getting most of these skills..its really great content for this solo job to have a friend go with you to the primals, while you barely can do anything and hope not to die while the friend does everything. I dont want to even imagine how bad that is with a whole blue group..Who thought it was a great concept to have skills behind content that you need to be carried for.

    The most bizarre thing about BLU to me is that it's locked out of a lot of content that would be interesting solo or make easier to solo. Deep dungeons, Diadem, Eureka.

    The second most bizarre thing is how weak it is. When I heard solo job, my thought was "can solo raids at level." Instead, it's worse at whatever role it's trying to fill that proper jobs at the same level, unless the enemy is vulnerable to death or self-destruct. Does it even have support buffs that's make it worth taking in a mixed party?

    If it doesn't get a lot stronger, it's gonna be real interesting seeing BLUs trying to beat what are imo the three hardest EX fights at level. Crutching on Shire gear I guess?

    The issue for this is that BLU doesn't get any weapon damage increases. All the weapons they have only give 1 weapon damage which really kills their ability to do anything since weapon damage does a lot for damage scaling. So if anything at least give BLU weapon damage so they can actually do stuff on acceptable levels.

    With 5.1 increasing the level cap to 60, PotD (pre-made/solo), Daidem and the HW Map dungeons should all be accessible. Later in the patch cycle (5.3?) the level cap might be increased to 70 which should unlock HoH and Eureka.

    I believe weapon damage isn't used in the BLU damage calculations. They have a different damage formula that based on the Blue's INT and the potency of the ability. This was done so that they didn't have to create a bunch to new weapons.

    Iirc some maths wizards worked out the scaling is kinda broken, ie a BLU in full bis doesnt do as much damage as it should if its scaling worked properly. What baffles me is why they didnt just make the weapon work like the artheryte earrings
