I really don't get why there's so much aggression towards this idea, even if they added a system that allowed us to change gear in active mode that doesn't mean you HAVE to use it. If you wan't to be the gimp who does everything in a single gearset that's your choice, no one is forcing you to make gear swap macros. However, for those of us who like to better ourselves, and become even more versatile in all situations, I think it would be a fine addition to the system.![]()

Right, and once they implement a change like this you either do it or be gimp, as you say. Therefore, we are forced to do it.I really don't get why there's so much aggression towards this idea, even if they added a system that allowed us to change gear in active mode that doesn't mean you HAVE to use it. And in regards to what CrystalWeapon said about the Dev. response to this topic, the XI Dev. team also said for years that they were never releasing a cap beyond 75 and they were very firm on that. Look how that turned out. Minds change with time and feedback, so this is no different, there's still a chance it can be implemented.

i agree with this for the most part. Let ppl who want to do it, do it. I LOVED it in 11 it made it convenient. and to the ppl who complain "Waaaah i cant heal or target the tanks or dd cause they blink alot" just make the macros that target the PT list its not rocket science.
It has already been stated MULTIPLE times that they will NOT implement gear swapping in battle/active mode like in FFXI. Thankfully the majority of players in FFXIV do not want it as well!
Calling people gimp because they don't use gear swap is exactly the issue we don't want in this game. It was bad enough in FFXI when I had the long-time players (I had only started in 2009) scowled at me because I didn't have a certain gear yet to swap or I didn't swap to one pair of DRG AF boots versus the other AF boots to add an extra 100dmg to my jump or something. Then it gets to the point of XI where you don't have this or don't do that so you can't join the party because you are "gimp" in people's eyes.
No thanks, I left FFXI for several reason's and that was one of them.

You don't lose target during blinks in this game so it wouldn't be an issue anyway.i agree with this for the most part. Let ppl who want to do it, do it. Oh this thread again. Its a bad idea! I just don't get the "I must be optimal from second to second or what will I do!" Maybe you are supposed to be at a disadvantage if you are heavy one way versus another. That requires a different kind of strategy in advance instead of horde gear and have 4 macro palettes that reference each other for each ability so you are never at a disadvantage ever.
I just don't get it, its like if people were all bring back ff8s junction system verbatim in XIV I think everyone would be like lolwut, but yet these pop up every few months.
Yep... if gear-swapping was really an exploit, the dev team sure as hell exacerbated the issue with the endgame gear they released (Hecatomb being a prime example).I Don't remember that being said exactly. But i do seem to recall hearing that they were kind of surprised about how much /equip was used. If they viewed it as a exploit that they couldn't fix. Well they did piss all about stemming the issue with there itemization.
Dev1: Wow, it looks like there swaping every single bit of gear they have. I was expecting them to swap in that Hmp staff to rest.
Item guy1: So do you want me to start designing some strong gear thats not hyper spesific so they don't have to do that?
Dev1: What? No make those gloves with 200% slow and 30 attack that we were talking about.
I loved gear swaps in XI.
I'd like to point out like many others who /are/ for gear swapping other things such as macro latency / server lag need to be fixed.
Personally think it would be a great addition to the mannequin system.
That being said I'd like to point out:
Currently gear in this game (minus weapon base damage) gear really doesn't matter. Yes its helpful. But a great deal of damage in this game currently is personal player skill. Gear is there currently to help enhance that.

Yeah, come back and tell me that when you're doing 30 damage at level 50 with a level 1 sword. Gear affects you a lot more than it used to, and smart players know this.Currently gear in this game (minus weapon base damage) gear really doesn't matter. Yes its helpful. But a great deal of damage in this game currently is personal player skill. Gear is there currently to help enhance that.
