Best gear post 1.21?

So I haven't had a chance to try out the new dungeons yet, and looking at the patch notes I see a metric crap-ton of new gear.

So what do people believe is the new gear that EVERYONE will want? With AF gear being so easy to obtain, the real elite will want something else to show off their e-peen I'm sure.

I've heard Darklight is the best hands down now. Is that true?

For the most part, yes. Some of it however is situation-ally the best.

Well 3-melded crafted gear could get close to the Darklight,

for instance:

Darklight Cuirass

• DEF 182
• STR +15
• VIT +15
• CRIT +50
• ATK +20
• Evasion -10
• Healing potency -30

Vs

Vintage Haubergeon +1 w/ Bloodwall materia IV(+20) , VIT materia IV(+20) , and Savage Might Materia IV(+50)

• DEF 186
• STR +8
• VIT +20
• CRIT +50
• DEX +6

But good luck getting that Haubergeon+Materia setup without 10 million+ to burn, (plus Darklight looks a thousand times better than the Vintage Haub.)

I notice that since the job gear, darklight, and trading NM drops for GC seals is in the game, the 'U/U melding campaign' has died down.

SE must be doing something right here.

Dropped gear being better than materia'd stuff is good but it doesn't make the materia system not horrible hope this helps

Bikini or subligar are best hands down.
