For every complaint you can find some other game out there that handles that specific aspect better. I never understand why people think it's impossible to have complaints about something and still enjoy it ^^ If there was an MMO out there that I would enjoy more, I would be playing that instead, obviously.
That makes sense I guess I’m a bit tired of the hyperbole that seems to come with every patch making it sound like the second coming of 1.0For every complaint you can find some other game out there that handles that specific aspect better. Frankly not: I liked the original Nier far more than Automata and I really didn't like Automata at all.
Still remember when the game asked me to delete my file like 5 times and I was like "Yes, for crying out loud, I never want to replay this game ever again, let me get rid of it!"
If anything if they ever make a Drakengard content, or Valkyrie Profile or even Star Ocean, I would definitely look forward to it.

Now that we know the release date, I'm even more impatient to play it! AAAAAH! >.<
I love Nier and everything that gets born in Yoko Taro's head so I have absolutely 0 concern over how it will fit into FF14. It will in the best way possible, whatever it is.
The big unknown right now is how they're going to handle the glamour. There are 3 raid tiers and 7 gear types for each that need to be created and they can't all be 2B cosplay. I'm super hoping that at least one of the tiers uses YoRHa Operator outfits for caster/healer gear. It would be a fitting and welcome change of pace from all the robes.
I"m curious if they'll dip into Drakengard or Nier for any outfits. Ivalice favored Tactics in the end but had a good deal of FF XII stuff too.Now that we know the release date, I'm even more impatient to play it! AAAAAH! >.<

Considering that 2B's main weapon is a katana I'm guessing 2B's main outfit will be striking but we'll see.
I've been hating on this raid since it was announced and I'm doing my best to not...and to give it a chance. I don't want to be that person who's never played the games but says that it's overrated or overhyped because of what I've seen from it. But at the same time I DO feel like it's been a bit overhyped and just looks like another hack & slash RPG with another generic waifu that's got a fat ass.
My biggest gripe is the fact that it has no relationship with FFXIV. Once again, my favorite MMORPG is being whored to help the sales of another game. This was first done with FF7:Remake and FFXV as we've all heard the rumors that a lot of the income that FFXIV brought in was used for those games. And now Nier. Yoshi P Even mentioned this during the live letter saying, "If you've finished the 5.0 storyline, I strongly suggest you go out and buy Nier: Automata." Like...it's cool for a crossover event, but to create a whole raid based off of a game that has no relationship to FF at all that is supposed to have some kind of relationship with ShB lore is just odd to me.
Sorry for ranting...I know people enjoy the game. And hell, I might even like it if I played it. But honestly, I'm tired of 2B and Nier stuff being used in damn near EVERYTHING nowadays (PSO2, FFXIV, Soul Calibur 6, FF: Brave Exvius, Gravity Rush, Monster Hunter to name a few) and I'm just kind of disappointed because ShB is a great Final Fantasy game. I wish it focused on FF lore and building something original instead of using something that has nothing to do with it.

Issue stems that Japanese companies tend to favor crossovers whenever they can. Good or bad, it is kinda a well tried and true marketing tool for them. It is kind of like social networking between companies to have such odd things to cross over's. isekai quartet is kinda of an extreme example of this, Capcom vs Street fighter is another more famous one (morphing into MVC that we know today.) And people like myself will eat it all up, Heck I would be totally down for a Warcraft x Final fantasy cross over, bloody love to see how square would design the Lich King.
Can we explain it all away? Sure! Our PC has done some universal dimensional crossing before lore wise within Final Fantasy so can be explained by 'MAGIC'. I mean... Eden turns the planet into a weapon and sends us to a black hole...
I get it. I don't agree with it ALL the time but I get it. I love the VS Capcom games. I'm all for a good crossover...something that fits into the game as an small event or a random cameo or nod to a character or franchise but not as a full 24 man raid which in this game mainly revolves around the FFXIV storyline. We've done crossovers with games outside of the FF realm before with Dragon Quest, Monster Hunter, Yokai watch and GARO which were on a smaller level.Issue stems that Japanese companies tend to favor crossovers whenever they can. What some people are missing outside of their excitement or just the lack of care is the fact that the raids will influence the world building and lore of FFXIV. We know Ivalice exists in Eorzea due to the Ivalice Raids. We know time travel is possible from Alexander. We know dimension hopping (what seem to be various FF worlds) is possible from the Alexander quests. So what, now we're dimension hopping to other game worlds? Is that the excuse they're using to shoehorn other franchises into the game? FF has YEARS content that FFXIV could draw influence from. Nier doesn't need to be in this game as a source of mainline content...at all.
Like I said, I know some people don't care about this stuff and just want to see their favorite waifu in FFXIV but in some ways it makes the lore and the game itself feel very messy. PSO2 suffers from this literally just throwing every popular game, anime and even movie character into it's game to the point where now it doesn't know what the hell it wants to be. Not saying this is going to happen with FFXIV. I really don't know what will come of it until it's finally released. It just rubs me the wrong way.
^^This...exactly this.I
Also, it just feels wrong for a non-FF game to get such a starring role here, taking up an entire alliance raid (an ongoing core gameplay mode) rather than a temporary special event - it's a bigger feature than several actual Final Fantasy crossovers have had. What's so special about this one game to get this treatment? Or does it mean we'll have more crossovers like this in future, turning FFXIV from its own thing into a patchwork of bits from other stories? I realise that's what it's already doing with other FF games, but at least there are boundaries and a theme to doing that.

I totally get where you are coming from. All comes down to how it is presented. (at least in my mind.) Neir can mesh well if written right. I never understood the monster hunter event so ..... perhaps that just a taste that I would accept one thing and not another? Considering how many consider Shadowbringers story good writing I am just going to let it go and say "lets see what happens". I would have confidence they could do it right.... would I trust Blizzard to write a decent cross over explanation? OH GOD NO.I get it. I don't agree with it ALL the time but I get it.
