    high ping unplayable

Just few days ago my FFXIV ping went from 150-160 to 410-420...ive had no issues with with the game until now. No other service is affected, netflix, youtube, steam and general download speed seems to be fine.
Im playing from Australia/Melbourne...also would like to add that sometimes the game doesn't even let me log on...i just get stuck on a blank character selection screen before getting an error and logging me out

Update:i talked to my ISP and they told me that its most likely a routing issue on SE end and they have no control over it

There was a typhoon earlier this week/last week that might have affected the routing to the servers, especially from Australia.

Good morning and thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

How long have you been experiencing this issue? Are you connected directly to router or are you using wifi?

Thank you for the reply ineedmoney.

Generally, this kind of latency is caused either by a wireless connection or a routing issue along your way to the server. Since you are using a wired connection, and you seem to have issues with the forums as well, it's most likely the routing issues while connecting to multiple Final Fantasy XIV services. This can happen for many reasons, such as congestion along that particular route or extreme weather conditions, like the above poster mentioned.

Unfortunately, the troubleshooting we offer is related to your home network (your PC and router), meaning we can't assist with routing issues. I'd recommend contacting your ISP and making a report with them.

Thank you for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

Try using a VPN to diagnose your issue.

If it resolves: You know the issue is out of your immediate control. You can continue to play with a VPN while they sort out the issue. You can use a program like pingplotter to trace the route [with the VPN off] and share that information with ISP techs.

If it doesn't resolve the issue: The problem is possibly local, something with your ethernet cable or modem. This you can try to fix.

if the problem is with your ISP you probably need to make a big stink with them before they'll even consider doing anything about it.
