    Returning, loving it, some problems

Back from when the game released, and am enjoying myself, but having a few issues.

Windows 7, nvidia 590 & 8G of ram just to get that out of the way.

When I am running my view tends to shake like I am in an earthquake. I notice this in Gridania the most, since that is basically the only place I go. I saw a thread where this was mentioned, but saw no solution.

I can live with that, as it seems to only happen when I run, but my main problem(s) are during combat.

I can target an enemy and get the “swirling” icon on it, but about half the time when I hit enter after that nothing happens, I don’t get the “triple arrow” targeting icon on the creature and thus can’t attack it. I usually have to run away, lose aggro and then come back and it works. I can’t figure out the exact methodology of how to make it work all the time.

ie : target then draw weapon and hit enter, draw weapon then target then hit enter, etc.

Another issue is auto attack not always working. I am Marauder, and am not listed as auto-attack in the Lodestone battle guide, the icon still shows up and I sometimes auto-attack, but not always.

A secondary battle issue is that I have the action bar set to always be shown, but usually in battle it disappears and can’t figure out what I am doing to make that happen. I have to click in the empty space to get it to appear so I can use it. Using the shortcut (1-9) keys does not do anything (execute the command associated with it) but sometimes hitting the “1” key makes the action bar reappear.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I have searched here, used google and other FFXIV sites and found conflicting answers about durability.

How much negative effect does lowered durability have on combat? Some say none until it is red , and others say get it repaired before it gets under 75%.

Hey, I think i was having the same problem as you with the graphics. I have a 560ti but that should easily run it also with no problems. Anyways, what i did was in config>system i changed the fps from 60->30. Game ran super smooth from there seems like a weird fix but the game feels 10x better try it out. sorry about your combat problem sounds nasty.

All classes have auto-attack, you have to be in active mode and your action bar has to be "active" / selectable for you to start attacking. On durability: the information you might be reading must be outdated. Right now all items give their full benefits until they hit 0%, upon which you get no stats at all from the item.

However it does sound like you have some really weird issues. I'd say try changing the graphics settings or worst case try reinstalling and see if that fixes it.

Thank you for the replies and help. I will try the FPS suggestion tonight.

I am so glad I won't be running back to town all the time to repair.

I tried some more testing last night and still can't figure out why the action bar disappears, but I have it set to always be showing.

I will also try the "action bar active" suggestion tonight.

    Thanks again

    Hey there.

For your action bar, go to menu>configuration>system>action bar display, and set it on. That will stop your bar from disappearing.

Auto attack is only active if you are completely clicked on the target (triple arrow)

As for your targeting, I get that sometimes too. When that happens, I either click the monster manually with my mouse, or click the ground and retarget it.

I'm not sure why the ground is "shaking." It does happen to me sometimes, but not that much. I run the game on all the standard settings so as not to fry my computer, and I always figured it either had to do with that, or with that the game is not optimized (which is being fixed in 2.0), or both.

    Hope that helps a little.
