Unable to complete version update [30419][19901][22] + Abnormal Program Termination

    Hello:
I have been enjoying FFXIV for about a month now on my desktop, no problems at all.

3 days ago, I purchased a new laptop and decided to install FFXIV on it. I bought this game through steam, so I went to steam to install the game and all seemed fine.
However, in the launcher, after I input my username and password, I get the Error as seen below.

So after I tried a couple of methods I found online (to no avail), I've decided to try downloading it from the website (https://www.finalfantasyxiv.com/playersdownload/na/)
This time, I couldn't even get to the launcher. After downloading the file and clicking on it, it prompted me for my region (NA) and after selection gave me this Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error.

I've tried a variety of methods to no avail, if someone could please help me get this game running I would really appreciate it.

For your reference, this is the laptop I am using (https://www.asus.com/ca-en/Laptops/R...02/Tech-Specs/)

    Thank you in advance.

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

I should mention that if you purchased the game through Steam, you will need to launch the game through Steam. Using the non-Steam launcher will not work unfortunately.

As for the first error you are getting, this only started happening on the new laptop, correct? If so, you may want to make some of the following adjustment as the default configurations may be causing this issue:

    1) Make sure Windows is completely up-to-date. This includes any 'Optional' and 'Recommended' updates that aren't installed automatically.

    2) Double-check that your anti-virus has the appropriate exceptions for FFXIV.

    3) Make sure Steam is running as Administrator.

    4) The game will use the Internet Explorer web browser to connect to the internet. Open Internet Explorer, then open the "Tools" setting, go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
    - Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
    - Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
    - Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
    - Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
    - Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
    - Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

Hello Einmimiria, thank you for the response.

Unfortunately, I have tried all those methods but wasn't able to get my program running.
I am getting the exact same errors as before, and I'm unsure of what other solutions there are.

Please let me know if there's another approach to the problem,
    Thanks

Good morning and thank you for the reply.

Are you connected directly to the router or are you using wifi? Could you also try the following:

-Use wired connection using an Ethernet cable

-Port Forward – open the following ports:
    ▼TCP
    54992 through 54994,
    55006 through 55007,
    55021 through 55040

    -Contact ISP

    I am currently using non-cable wi-fi connection.

Just a quick update, the error still persists but I have physically relocated to Japan due to work reasons. Is there potentially another approach to the problem now that I am in JP region?

Do you think that me moving my account to Japan server would somehow alleviate the issue?

    Thanks

Good afternoon and thank you for the reply.

Changing servers may not alleviate the issue as you are having trouble connecting to the game. Is the Final Fantasy XIV application allowed through the fire wall?
