    So since dnc, aesthetically speaking, is in the same "entertainment" bracket as bard, I'd like to see the ability to glamour the steps with the emote dances you have. That or a "performance" styled feature where you can chain emote dances together.

    Dancer definitely needs tweaks to potency, but as mentioned before in this thread, all the physical ranged dps need some love. Dancer's probably the best off right now compared to Machinist and Bard, but it's still wanting preening. Mechanically-speaking, Dancer is solid. There doesn't need to be any changes to the way it plays. The dances are fine. Dot upkeep on Dancer sounds disgusting in the worst way and giving us the 'illusion' of picking what buffs we can give out when we know it'll just be demanded of us to give dps buffs all the time is, well, I think it speaks for itself.

    My only problem is, as an omni-physical ranged dps player, I've always been asked to run Machinist even if I'm better at playing Dancer for that 'sweet dps.' Some people straight up don't see Dancer buffs worth the low dps it does and would rather take a grey Machinist because it still does more dps than a purple Dancer, for example. So I feel like that's something that needs to be addressed. I don't know how, or whether or not buffing Dancer's buffs over potency would be better, but this is the biggest hurdle that's being presented to me right now, anyway.

    You combine different dance moves to get different buffs.

    Green = health/regen
    Red = damage / skill speed
    yellow = damage resistance / parry / reflect
    Blue = MP regen
    As AST has shown and others in this thread have pointed out, giving a damage bonus among a bunch of support abilities would simply lead to a singularity where only the damage effects are valued. I think your system sounds fun, but if you wanted it to not get "default to only one buff" issue AST had:

    -Make completing any dance sequence of buttons give a damage buff, so the buttons you'd choose would not change the dps contribution.
    -Change your red to give a small shield, or give a damage down to nearby enemies.

    With those changes, your theoretical system would result in same dps gain regardless of buttons chosen, but would have customizable buffs to give to the party based on the current situation in the fight.

    Bads wont see the benefits of Technical/Standard Step. In other words, the buffs aren't strong enough to carry them through a fight, and Dancer's innate low DPS isn't strong enough to carry the load either.

    I feel ffxiv's dancer would benefit greatly from ffxi's version of Sambas, instead of the 5 second panic button shield samba currently is, make it persist like tank stances, every time the dancer hits an opponent it afflicts that opponent with a shared debuff/buff that reprocs every time a party member affected by the buff hits that enemy. I believe Haste Samba was mentioned when SE started announcing content for dancer, not sure what happened to it but dnc would benefit from Haste, and drain sambas, maybe even other debuffs like paralyzing, Addling, and Viral sambas. Perhaps some elemental dances that inflict elemental damage on striking. Something to take my parties mind off the fact that my luck with feathers is sadly lacking in this fight, and help me as the dancer not feel as if nothing i'm doing is having any real impact. Also boost feathers, remove rng it didn't work for Mch it's not going to work for dancer give it up or give us a luck stat we can improve with gear.

    Also the grunting please i'm using steps and my miqo who has the singing voice of an angel, sounds like she just took a fist to the gut, was knee'd in the groin, and is possibly a 60 year old asthmatic smoking a pack a day. Get rid of it, or dub another sound over it. Also dancer exclusive gear sets get us off Bard/Machinist gear, immersion is important? Well stop dressing my dancer in full length robes, and other nonsense, Japanese dancers may dress in full body armor in the US flexibility and freedom of motion are important, less is more. They did it for ninja, they did it for Dragoon, Dancer actually makes the most sense to have unique armor styles that fit the aesthetic. Yes we can glam, no there are not enough dancer appropriate glam items in game. Yes I have them all I am positive, I work hard at the real endgame.

    No i'm not trolling, I like everyone else have my own image of what my dancer should look like, how it should perform, and what I'd want it to do. As it is the job is well set up, but it suffers from lack of personal dps which invites bullying from the toxic toad community of parser demons whose opinions sadly carry more weight than legions of dancer players screaming "all is fine, the steps are making up for it." The fact is the steps are not making up for it, Dancer has to compete, hard, to not be relegated to the sidelines. Every dance, every move we have to force out as much dps as we possibly can just to pull half our weight in an 8 man group. God help us if we have a string of bad luck, or our closed position partner is a moron, and keeps dying to mechanics over, and over again. There is little forgiveness, things are much too tight for a job as whimsicle as dancer that should scream individual creativity, and freedom of motion. Unless of course you just, let go, but then you'd never get anything done.
