Starting the game as Arcanist is largely unplayable now

You get a slow cast dot and the direct damage spell... the mobs just walk up and eat you; unplayable as you cannot DPS fast enough at the low levels.

When I was leveling arcanist in Stormblood I could easily put Bio and Miasma on two or three enemies at a time, and by the time one was Ruined to death the other two would be close to death as well, then I could just cast a Physick and Ruin the other two to death. While the dots are a bit weaker now, Ruin 1's damage was almost doubled compared to Stormblood, and the Emerald Carbuncle can AoE them now too. There's no way it's that much harder now, at least at the low levels this thread is discussing. Saying it's "unplayable" is pure hyperbolic nonsense.

I won’t really speak on the design of lower level ACN, but Jesus. All the people telling a new player that might happen to be struggling that they just shouldn’t play the game because...what? They suck? Doesn’t that seem to be a bit extreme? The guy is new to the game; maybe even MMOs in general.

You right, they both sucks at play since he did sync to lv15 and got his character destroyd from 1 fate sayng he NEED a party to play. At least we dont know about his friend to know or not about mmo, but we know he played the game and he got f**k up from a lv15 fate XD

Pardon, but I don’t see where the OP synced down to do a FATE and then claimed it was unplayable? Mind quoting it in case I missed it? I interpreted the OP saying his friend was the one saying this all, who was a new player to FFXIV and possibly MMOs as a whole. Either way, saying the game is better off with a guy who just started and didn’t do anything nearly as horrible as what I’ve seen from some newbies...

I have a friend that was intersted in playing SMN end game. He achieved Lv15 and was looking forward to topaz carbuncle as tank. but we discovered that all the pets are now just DPS.

So, you have a physically weak class, unable to put out the damage the other starters can but without any way to mitigate the mob aggro/damage.

I cannot fault him on this, I delierately used a fate to sync from Lv70 to Lv15 and got destroyed.

It appears that the arcanist was changed so much it's only playable if you are with a party now and no solo capability.

I mostly hate friendly people that just say everything is good, coz is not, he is bad, and his friend too, he just give up, not even tried to improve. Quitters are quitters, thats all, blame the game for his own inadequacy, that what he did. And the guy that made the thread is bad too, he synced to 15 from 70 and got " QUOTE: destroyed", i'm not the greatest player ever but i still mostly solo level up all my jobs, mostly not even buyng gear but weapons untill 20, never found problem. See player blame GAME and not themself just make me laught. Open a thread about it, well thats not comunity fault, freedom of expression, we say all we want about him, there is not even flame here, just people with lot of opinions about someone who quit game for his incapacity of play own job correctly, blaming game.
I hope you have a wonderfull day in this land full of horrible people that say own thought and not lie with a friendly smile to others

Off topic, i let some of my friends join the game(fun part one of them choose summoner and never had problems livelling, now is lv61), and every time they do something wrong i say them on face .. "You are bad, its your fault, improve and do it correctly" Thats how you teach them what is wrong and what is good, not sayng to all mistakes: "its ok you did your best, good job." coz in this way they will never improve, they just be bad forever, accusing game, design or whatever but themself. I hope this help you to see my point of view.

Constructive criticism is infinitely more useful to everybody. You can appreciate someone's effort and improvement while also helping them to better themselves. They're playing a videogame, this isn't Whiplash. You shouting in their ear J.K. Simmons style will only serve to ruin what should be a relaxing activity, and from personal experience, I can say people learn a lot more easily when they're relaxed, which means they get better faster, which is good for you and them. Telling people they're shit might make you feel better, but it won't improve them.

No, how you teach someone is by giving them constructive criticism, and hope they take it to heart and apply it to their gameplay in the future. Not the verbal abuse nonsense you’re spouting off in this post. This post doesn’t really help me to see anything other than you don’t seem to comprehend the difference between offering constructive criticism to an individual that is struggling and just being, quite frankly, rude to them. I consider it rude to just tell someone “you’re bad, what happened was your fault, git gud” with no advice tacked on in there. That sort of phrase is about as unconstructive as you can get.

Calling a new player bad for not knowing what to do in a game they literally just started is also rude, in my opinion. Implying that the game is better off without them/they should stop playing for the benefit of the rest of the community is also rude. And, quite frankly, uncalled for. I won’t lie and tell anyone they’re doing a good job if they aren’t. But I also won’t be downright demoralizing to people. Because that doesn’t teach them anything.

Oh don't sugar coat it. Square enix said themselves they wished they had never made summoner/ scholar as a dual class. So they have slowly broken the summoner so people will stop playing it. Just give them what they want, abandon the arcanist already, so they can sweep their mistake under the rug.

Started a new character and got it to lv11 I believe, can't really remeber, but so far besides some issues with emerald pulling a few extra mobs I haven't found it difficult yet. There have been some close calls with 4-5 mobs on me at once but physic spammed 2-3 times to get me back to full and a Ruin inbetween was enough to keep me going. Will continue to play and test it out.

We never needed a tank pet, I think the only time I used it was a job quest I believe 58 when you fight the huge egis on for Bahamuts power or whatever. But I repeat the tank pet was never a necessity to SMN or ARCs game play. Just gear up and move on
