I feel like I'm the only one by default that just glams everything no matter the role. There are just far too many outfits to really worry about being stuck to robes in my opinion.

Thought I was the only one thinking this.
But ya I have not stayed stuck to one single healer outfit since 1.0, all of them eye sores. Glamour or bust.
Would help if SE made decent looking healer gear.
The only outfit I like on them that is still a dress is the spookie black halloween gown. But then the pumpkins on her hips kinda ruin that.
If were gonna be forced into dresses wheres all of the thin tight ones with slits on the sides.

I think it could be quite helpful to show some example armors you think would feel healer-y and yet also not too robe like, might give them an idea for upcoming armor then.
Maybe anything like one of these? :
(I know basically all of them still have cape components but they stray away from the tent robe looks at least lol)

Personally I think some overtly over the top light or dark robes could be really fun (yes I know they're robes still):
With a extra personal note that anything with really any particle effects or that have that extra dollop of fantasy/over the top-ness should probably be saved away for relic armor and stuff (like the next Eureka set and such). I like wild fantasy armors but it'd be nice to not saturate the screen space with every single person wearing a halo, having giant wings, and emitting over 9000 particles. So I'm for it, for those wild armors, but like.. with discretion and pacing between them lol.
Would be interesting to see what people want. Or run another armor contest, those are always fun- though a bit sad when you see excellent armors that didn't get put into the game lol. Good work to those who enter. I could perhaps add some stick figure art next time, real serious stuff over 1 point of defense surely! XD.

OK, those are pure perfection and would look amaaazing on both f and m healers *_____*
Ok, WHERE can u get the healer armor? I'll take 10! But if it's savage gear then gg
It not about the pants, it's about the top just completely covering the pantsLots of sets have actual pants. Not the relic gear, but look through the market board for healer gear and you'll see that the majority of leg wear is pants - and a number of them actually turn into shorts on a female character (eg. Astral Silk and Arachne/Pagos).
I don't see anything wrong with wearing old gear either - that's the whole point of the glamour system. Find what you like, and stick with it.
(I update my mage gear a lot, but I'm still wearing Lv50 gear on half my melee classes. Some of it just works and looks good, and I keep coming back to it.)
It would be nice for once to NOT to have to glamour caster (af) gear instantly and show it off a little for a change...oh well, can't please everyone, glamour plates are truly a blessing

This is our future. Our story.

Deepshadow gear is the particular one being discussed (where the mage gear is still knee-length robes but with scale mail incorporated into it), but there are a few other items - mostly just arm/leg gear though. High Allagan sollerets; Daystar sollerets; Lost Allagan and Bonewicca pieces.
You can also get the ex-seasonal-gear Legacy Warrior set from Mog Station which gives you an all-classes body armour piece.
I've posted it before, but this is an armoured WHM design I made with the Legacy cuirass and Daystar sollerets. There's also a less gaudy Lv60 version of the sollerets that you can purchase in Azys Lla.
Fair enough, though pants are usually the most boring part of an outfit, to me anyway.
Combining AF pieces with a different shirt can be a good way around it if you want to show off the other pieces and can find something that works together.

There were copyright issues with making healers look the part

I personally wouldn't be adverse to some combat medic gear. The Skalla stuff came pretty close but it has that ugly collar on it, but we really don't have much in the healer category that doesn't have a delicate or robe like feel to it. At least not without having to mix and match Lv. 1 gear in at some point.
^ I'd love something like this. Or to go back to the old healer design contest winners... This runner up was pretty unique. Still robey but at least it looks like something you can actually run in. (Well, if you cover up the exposed part of the foot but you get what I mean.)
I don't necessarily mind the limitations in regards to AST and WHM as their aesthetics have always been on the more delicate side. But when I'm rocking SCH I'd like something like the first image or like a fantasy version of Lifeline from Apex Legends. We're supposed to be part of the M A R I N E S, I'd like to see us be able to dress like proper soldiers. Maybe even have some gear with bandage packs and protective armor.

From the RDM perspective, I hate the relative absence of medium/light melee-ish armor options as a good number of things we have are also caster robes.

Once I got the Orison set, that was a perma glamour.
Healer gear sometimes looks like stuff a pregnant lady would wear:P
