NOTICE: Due to the server problems that SE is having right now we may be forced to cancel the first part of the festivities. We're having a hard time getting players logged into Durandal and it's becoming incredibly unreliable. Multiple disconnects also does not bode well for running an SR5C in AV/CC. This is still up in the air but we may just start with The Wild Zozor Hunt followed by Dash at Natalan.

We've taken a crazy awesome idea from the lovely LARPers over at Besaid and twisted it upside down to bring all of the new citizens of Durandal...

We hope to spark up server sociability right off the bat with a community-wide event that everyone can enjoy! Whether you be native Cornerlians or Rabanastreans...Rabanastrians?...Rab...WHATEVER, please come and join us in the festivities.

We've all seen server-wide Chocobo Racing and massive Botanist orgies with Guardians of the Grove and Lv.1 zombie death running to objectives - but its all been done before. Our events may not be the most original of ideas but - they will surely be competitive, be fun and have great rewards at the end

Time: 3PM-5PM EST
Our first event will test your puzzle solving skills in an old fashion scavenger hunt! You will be hunting the elusive yet beautiful Wild Zozor. To make the hunt more interesting we have stationed BG "NPCs" around the world that give clues or riddles to where you can locate the Wild Zozor.

To speak to these "NPCs" you must use a firework on them which will prompt them to give you the clue in a /tell. Once you have your clue, continue on your quest! There will be 7 NPCs in total and their clues will be a real challenge to even learned adventurers! Upon reaching the final NPC you will be given a riddle. You only have ONE chance at getting the correct answer to spawn the Wild Zozor - so answer carefully! The first player to spawn the Wild Zozor wins the Grand Prize.

Grand Prize: 8,000,000gil and a romantic night alone with Zozor*!
*romantic night with Zozor subject to your definition of romance

Time: 5PM-??PM EST
To close out our evening we will be hosting a competition of skill and endurance. Taking place in the remote stronghold of Natalan, single parties of eight players will fight their way through hordes of Ixali to represent their Linkshell. The team with the fastest clear time from the Entrance Gates to Lozol Totolaq the Decapitator (boss must be defeated) wins the Grand Prize. The team with the second fastest clear will win the Runner-up Prize.

Only one team will be running the gauntlet at a time and will be monitored by 2~4 BG members to ensure fair play is being promoted. We will also be live streaming the runs so that linkshells can cheer their selected team mates on in their struggle. Each linkshell will choose a representative to sign their 8 man group up. There is no limit to how many groups from a single linkshell may enter as some linkshells may be larger than others. PUGS also acceptable.

Grand Prize: 8,000,000gil
Runner-up Prize: 4,000,000gil

We will keep this thread updated in the following days when SE gives us the exact time the servers will be online. We plan for the events to start an hour or so after the servers come back up. We hope that the Welcome To Durandal Event has a great turnout from the community. Let's start out on this new [/SIZE]server with bang

The only players with the drive and ingenuity to solve the riddles and find me are already BG members, surely...

Even if every single person on the server signed up they'd all FAIL MISERABLY.

I'm going to end up keeping the gil for myself, which is what will happen if no one can solve the riddle.

Nah if that were the case I'd have no way of taunting the people who can't find me.

I suppose I should point out, though, that I will be logged out until the final riddle is solved by players talking to the BG 'npcs'.

This is so that the player search function will not be useful in tracking me down.

finally someone come up with user made events that don't suck. It would be a hard decision for me to have to pick between running for hours to different camps, stunning a tree to death, or making 8 mil gil. Lucky we aren't all on the same server cause im just not sure if i could decide.
