Weird behaviour afoot in Thanalan...

Hi, I'm pretty new to the game and was following the main scenario quest this evening on an alt and saw something pretty weird...

There are around 50+ almost identical Lalafell characters with gold-seller kind of default names, all the same level range in Camp Drybone. They seem to stand around, then vanish, then re-appear. I guess just doing dungeons over and over. They're all slowly levelling up at the same rate (currently 20-21). They all stand on top of each other on the same spot. I have some screen-shots of the names.

I've seen people that like to 6-box before or whatever, but more than 50 Lalafell is pretty out there and doesn't seem legit play to me.

Those would be RMT bots. They’ve always been around, but they’re usually underground. Lately, they’ve started appearing above ground in large numbers.

Well it's a shame if they aren't clamping down on exploitative game-play

Actually I'm surprised they don't do more to stop the gold-seller spam, pretty straight-forward to stop the blatant stuff that happens all the time at the main aetherytes

They do have weekly reports that they post noting how many RMT/bot accounts are banned. Sadly, it’s not enough. Bot activity has increased quite a bit since Shadowbringers launched—probably because FFXIV has gotten so popular.

They're a group of BLM lalas who have adopted Roegadyn names just trying to band together as a community. They all have a big bond over Ampador Keep and always run that dungeon. They sometimes love that dungeon so much they're all running it and it blocks off people actually trying to play the game! What a bunch of goofballs./s


It's a bunch of RMT bots spamming the same instances. SE has been a bit behind on reports and Twitania/Spriggan have been added recently as new worlds which allowed a huge influx of bots to come into the worlds. Much more then usual.
