Item Decor Placement needs an Overhaul

The current housing decor & item placing is very shallow, limited, frustrating & constantly requires ingenuity to get around the current item placement system.
Games like Wildstar & ESO allow you to place items within your home pretty much anywhere without a need to pull your hair out. You could also resize the decor & dye everything. Literally everything. Not in FFXIV, though.
Want to dye some brick? Sorry, it only comes in red & that paintbrush is only meant for looks.

Right now, I have a set of stairs I want to place one way but the stairs cannot be flipped to go the direction I'd prefer. I repeat, an item cannot be flipped.. or maybe it can? By glitching & bugging out the current placement system in Housing!. That doesn't seem weird to you guys?
Players actually have to bug out & glitch the current item placement system due to it's lackluster limitations. We should be able to place whatever we want wherever we want. Want to rotate a wall at an acute angle? You can't. Want to place a window on a partition? You can't. Want to place items in the air? You can't. Not without glitching the current system & it's incredibly frustrating like this.

Make all items flippable, limitless rotations, everything dyable, fix the item placement restrictions.

Please, Enix - fix the item decor placement & allow more placements!

I'd settle for just being able to treat lofts as floors instead of tables. Maybe do something about the ugly bases on miniatures.

Not that I'd call it broken to fix (try and put this in the bug section of the forums, working intended :P lol), but you had me at Wildstar .

Besides this game's visuals I'd love for the team to be greatly inspired by that system (or even ESO, just strong bias to Wildstar). Like I'd hand write a letter to everyone on the team and give them a consensual (lol) massage sort of tier of love. My dream desire >.>.

If players could scale and place objects where they wanted, and with the creativity the housing community has already shown, I think I'd need to prepare for my mind to be blown. Some very neat stuff and a lot less stress to do it.. and if we were able to do anything else that Wildstar system could do (personal zone...... /cry), oh man. The pipe dream I so want.

I'm so very, VERY grateful for the recent addition of housing item preview and it has me hopeful that they may consider other improvements as well.

I'd love to see flipping for items (I imagine it might be odd for items that have text, but none actually come to mind?).

But most of all I'd love to see a vertical placement slider or some way to adjust how high or low an object is. There are already creative ways players get around this but it's cumbersome and frustrating to accomplish, and difficult to make adjustments to after it's been placed. It would be nice if we could just choose where items go.

But yea, ideally Wildstar's system, which allowed for full rotation, placement, and even scaling if I recall. Boundless creativity.

I definitely agree w/ being able to place on a loft. It's very limiting, and definitely messed w/ my plans for a second floor bedroom area
It won't even let me put down pink flower flooring!

I completely agree. Normally, I appreciate this game's attempt to adhere to the rules it sets for the world. "Immersion" if you will. I hate to drag out the tried-and-true saying, but "a wizard did it" is the only explanation needed to allow us to go crazy with our houses. This is a world with magic. We have flying chairs and beds. We have animated brooms and golems. ShB had a dude make a whole dang city and it's persistent even after death. I don't think it's outside of the rules of the world to allow someone to float some furniture in the air, or make stuff overlap or intersect or whatever.

Why is this cupboard floating in the air? Who cares? It's magic! But there's a teacup on the cupboard, and the cupboard is tilted downward, so gravity should be pullin--WHO CARES? IT'S MAGIC!

Honestly, the housing system could be simplified a lot if they got rid of some of the pointless limitations. Why must something be a "Tabletop" item in order to be placed on top of things? Now everything can be placed on tables! Why do only certain things function as "tables" or "floors" that can only support certain stuff on them (I'm looking at YOU, loft and stage)? Now every flat surface can be a "tabletop"! You want to put a stage on top of another stage to have a double-height stage, or want a floating, angled stage? You do you!

Someone's idea to give us the ability to scale items is a clever one as well. I hadn't considered that before, and I like it!
