Funny post when you consider the fact that XI's subscription base is still waaayyy bigger than XIV's right now and that game is almost 10 years old. Not saying I want an Xi clone either but, they must have done something right or it wouldnt still be kicking this games ass in both net income for SE and player subs.

XI is simply not a better game than XIV, not anymore. When you compare the two you have to do so as what XI is without the windower, without spellcast, without the addons, and without the wiki. XI really sucks as a product on it's own.. it's truly horrible compared to XIV and nobody would touch it if it wasn't for the add on developers (that is laughably against SE's own TOS.)

I think there are some who view XIV as a threat to XI and latch on to any excuse to put down XIV. That is a falsity as what is killing XI is XI and it's legal and contracted dependance on a decade old gaming console, the PS2. The people who view it as a threat have some kind of silly idea that if they can convince enough people that XIV is crap that it will tank and SE will remake XI. That's simply not going to happen but they try anyway.

When people who are on the fence about XIV talk about it to people in XI, they more often than not run across those who perceive XIV as a threat (because the people who like XIV are already playing XIV and can't defend it) and so the information they get from their LS mates make them question moving to XIV. What to do about this I don't know but that is what I believe is going on with the XI community. If XI players were given a weeks free trial of XIV that may change things.

I stand convinced however that XIV is superior to XI as a finished product and Yoshi-P deserves all the credit in the world for making this game the fantastic game it has become, and will become in the future.
