SMN only has to hardcast dots once per two minutes outside of issues with a weird jump or something right now. Although for any content you sync down to and don't have tri-disaster you get to enjoy hard casting them again. SMN also used to have more than 2 dots, and they were on different timers, and tri-disaster didn't exist. It was always rough on phase changes or fights with more than 3 adds in the past.

I don't mind dropping to two dots vs 3, but I would like shadow flare back. I don't want to drop to 1 dot, we need attention in other places and trading one gcd out from a dot to a ruin isn't it.

The HW effect of Foe Requiem was +10% magic vulnerability on the target(s).

Yes, the two dots are essential for our Bards being able to do what they do. I need the ticks from both of them to perform several very important abilities. With just one it throws EVERYTHING off. I also rely on the damage they do over time. I can keenly feel their loss when playing my Dancer. It's just not the same kiting a higher level mobs without those dots to slowly wittle mobs down. They help enormously.

Repetoire, pitch perfect, Sidewinder, Refulgent Arrow, Shadowbite, Apex Arrow...pretty much all of our abilites are effected in one way or another by our two dots. Many of them get stronger with both of them. I've probably forgot a few more abilities too that are affected by our dots.

If you take even one of them away it would completely change multiple abilities of ours that rely on them not to mention it would make it a lot harder. Yeah we can refresh them both at the same time but only at higher levels. In lower level raids/dungeons we still have to do it manually. We don't have the highest dps nor do we have half of the utility we used to have. The ONE thing that we do bring to the table (besides our songs of course) is that we do constant and steady damage. Our damage levels never really drop. A Monk does insane damage but only if they're on the mob and not dodging halfway across the screen. Bards don't have that issue so while we will never outdamage a Monk we do bring a constant and steady drip of reliable damage to the table.

I personally hardly consider SMN and BRD being Dot jobs when one can apply them with an ogcd and the other refreshes them with a gcd.

If anything WHM during HW was much more a dot job than BRD and SMN currently are.

While I dont care whether or not they'd remove one dot, from a game play perspective there would be very little change.

Im all for a proper DoTjob, but being a Dot job is more Tha. Pressing one dot button every 30s.

Shadowbite only snapshots based off of the debuffs of the initial target, you dont have to dot everything for it to be useful, just one mob.

Well DoT-job does not mean (for me at least) that the gameplay is around applying DoTs, but more about what you gain for having your DoT(s) on a target. In that respect, BRD is well designed because DoTs ticking is not just front dmg value, but it unlocks pretty much everything else (Pitch Perfect, Sidewinder, Blodletter...) I don't think there can be more DoT gameplay mechanics than "putting them on a target then refreshing them". Different timers just shift the rotation around, but it boils down to the same principle : uptime. So I prefer to see more DoT interactions within the job kit.
BLM has an interesting DoT too in the sense that it creates a sense of priority and proc management or a movement tool.

Other than these, DoTs feel like an auto attack substitute on Healers, a Fester mechanic for SMN and an excuse to create a branching combo for most melee jobs.
