Paladin: Royal Authority/Atonement and Requiescat/Confiteor Replacement Idea

Been playing Paladin and planning ahead on Hotbar space, and had a thought that would be a simple Quality of Life changes for two of their abilities.

    -Royal Authority/Atonement-
Figured this one is straight-forward enough, once Sword Oath is unlocked. Instead of binding Atonement itself after performing the Weaponskill Combo, Royal Authority can instead turn into Atonement upon gaining the 3 stacks of Sword Oath.

    -Requiescat/Confiteor-
This is something I figured makes sense, since Confiteor ends Requiescat's effect, may as well turn into Confiteor. Turning back into Requiescat after using Confiteor.

I feel these would be a nice change since skills like Red Mage work similar with their Enchanted combos, Verholy and Verflare.

EDIT: Touched up what I meant by skills being replaced and turning into other skills, don't mean Royal Authority or Requiescat being removed completely for Atonement or Confiteor. Many apologies for any confusion.

Royal Authority turning into Atonement would probably be fine. At least, I can't think of a scenario where you would want to do Royal Authority with Sword Oath stacks remaining.

Requiescat turning into Confiteor, on the other hand, has some issues. Namely, if you are mashing Requiescat late into your GCD (like during a double weave), then you may end up queuing Confiteor, immediately ending Requiescat.

Maybe just have RA turn in either? You're not going to use physical skills during Req.

Touche on Requiescat, at most, felt worth mentioning to see how if it would potentially work. Hard to tell what skills can need to be separate and which may as well be combined.

They could add 1-2 second cooldown on Confiteor after using Requiescat to avoid tapping it accidentally, this is something already exists on similar games.

Just give it a shared internal cooldown of 1.5 seconds or so, or prevent the latter from being queued until the skill transforms (i.e. queue the ability, not the hotbar space) and delay the transformation until the first's animation is nearly done (such that it can still be chained for an instant use of Confiteor, but only if one goes out of their way to make that happen).

I'd just add that if you're going to combine RA into Atonement, it might be worthwhile to (1) make Atonement not break the main combo, and/or (2) make combos unbreakable while Sword Oath stacks remain.

So make it to where you can weave atonements into the standard Paladin Combo?

Or adjust Requiescat duration such that we can only fit 4 Holy Spirit/Circle in the duration, and let Requiescat turn into Confiteor for a couple of seconds only when the effect runs out.

Similar to how Jolt turns into Scorch but only after verHoly/verFlare.

    Speaking as a PLD main:

HELL no. Very bad ideas. I can't believe you're actually proposing that Req be removed, and for what? This isn't QoL, you are just removing skills and options available to players. One of the things I love about PLD is its abundance of different skills to use. The last thing it needs is to be watered-down. And why are you even comparing PLD's design to RDM? It is a Tank class, meaning it's meant to play much differently from RDM, a caster dps.

Just, no OP. PLD is arguably the most well designed Tank at the moment, leave it alone.

Wut? Hes not taking abilities away...

Hes asking that the Req button change to Confiteor AFTER activating Req. Since you can only use Con after Req, it makes sense. There are tons of skills in-game already that change if a requirement is met, and cant be hotbar'd. RDM happens to have a couple.

Same with Atonement. After activating Royal, you spam Attone 3 times. Theres literally no reason not to. So why not just change Royal when its activated to Attone for 3 gcd's?
