We need an ilvl/gear requirement for leveling dungeons

I know that there have been multiple threads on this already over the years. But we need this. Really. Has there been any information on if they will ever implement this?

I just did a leveling roulette and got Shisui of the Violet Tides (lvl 63, drops lvl 270 gear).
One of the DPS had normal quality ilvl 160-185 gear. One piece was HQ 255, one was from that dungeon. Two accessories were lvl 50 tank gear. Like a Platinum ring of fending. Their weapon was NQ ilvl 160. They had 5 (five) jobs at lvl 80.
The best thing was that pants dropped that were 85 ilvl better that what they had. And they passed (seriously, why does that ALWAYS happen? Severely undergeared players pass on loot that is so much better than what they have).

Why is there no ilvl requirement for those dungeons anyway? Why can I wear lvl 1 gear in Mt. Gulg, when the non-leveling dungeons have an ilvl requirement? This makes absolutely no sense.

I don't expect them to have super nice gear. But seriously, they had to have the gear to access the last story dungeon to even reach the first leveling dungeon of the next expansion. Make them just not be able to queue for leveling roulette if they don't even bother to get some gear that's at least somehow close to what should be expected.

This doesn't even affect new players because they get gear from their story quests. These are mostly players leveling alt classes which definitely should be able to buy at least some gear. So you won't lock new players out of leveling dungeons if you make some restrictions on what you can enter with. They don't have to be super high. But please. This has been asked so, so often.

I mean, I went into Bardam's Mettle with 270 gear because I didn't expect it in the roulette (I forgot I had barely leveled up up 65). But that was at least 270. And not 160 NQ. I healed ilvl 260-270 tanks in Castrum Abania, and they melted. But that gear wasn't completely useless at least. But ilvl 110 NQ tank gear on a DPS is.

Q: Please set appropriate item level restrictions for leveling dungeons. Currently, it's possible for players to enter even if their item level is far too low to actually complete the dungeon…
A: We understand the issue and have been discussing it within the development team. Simply setting an item level requirement may create new problems, so we’re trying to come up with a different solution

There you go they are looking into it but through a non min ilv solution, what that solution could be who the hell knows, could make things better could make things as bad as now.

Very true the other day I was running The Sirensong Sea with a Gunbreaker(who had 5 jobs at 80 including the other tanks...)who was missing a belt, two rings, a bracelet, and a necklace. Was so hard on my healer friend =(

What I don't get is why (if they're so afraid new players will get roadblocked), at the very, very least leveling dungeons can't have an ilv requirement equal to the last MSQ dungeon. They don't have to list it, but even just a "your ilv is significantly lower than the duty" error message when you try to queue.

As an example, you need 360 to enter Gimlyt Dark. So why does Holminster let you in with less? 360 is very undergeared and doesn't fix the issue, but still worth the question why it'd be fine for the new player to vendor half the gear they needed to enter Gimlyt as they hop into ShB and queue with a key role. Or do they seriously feel it'd be unfair on the GNB alt-class in basic Shire and starter gear if he can't go in, wipe repeatedly and be kicked from Mt Gulg groups?

Likely the people who are not well equipped or passing on upgrades are players who are leveling up alts and are just trying to fly through levels until they get to a certain level cap by which they use tomes to upgrade.

I know when I level an alt via dungeons, I do not upgrade at every single level. But I def do better than having missing gear :/

You don’t need to upgrade for every level, but the person in the OP’s post is wearing base level 60 gear from HW, which started around i150 and ended at i270. Not to mention their random ARR pieces. That’s a tad inexcusable in terms of gear.

The developers are so worried about people being roadblocked, but they don’t seem to understand that players kick individuals like this from dungeons due to wearing gear that became irrelevant over 4 years ago....

    A few examples I've had.

Healer in lv71 dungeon with the lv67 weapon, it was around 100 ilv lower than what drops in the dungeon.

Had the pleasure of healing a DRK in Doma Castle (in 4.5) and he was decked out in Aug. Hellfire gear. Keeping him alive was real trial and the DPS' were always at the edge of pulling hate from him.

SCH in Longstop HM, only looked at the gear he was wearing and thought it was the lv 80 gear. Did the normal pull up to Couerl and got destroyed. Checked the gear after respawn and he was wearing ilv 90 armor(no problem) and a pink lv 28 weapon. Fairy did something like 128 hp per heal.

Just a few examples from recent months. I'm all in favor of something being done to enforcing better gear check for dungeons.
Especially at this point in an expansion on the earlier(71-73) dungeons, you can easily spend 1 day gearing in the un-upgraded gear with tomestones and not drag down the party.

I had a 79 Gunbreaker in Mt Gulg with lvl 60 Alex pieces and his starter weapon. He ofc pulled big and I couldn't keep him alive. We kicked him ^^ I suggest more people do that

I mean I’m lvling all jobs to 80 just to get the mount but I still make sure I’m at least decently geared in the highest ilvl tome gear I can get plus dungeons drops as I get them, if someone is lvling it’s super easy to at least do that because poetics are so plentiful

I don’t play that game, those people are immediately vote dismissed, why would you make the party suffer cause your lazy arse won’t buy the 10k or less, current Ilvl gear from the vendors, like others say no one is expecting apex gear but not hundreds of ilvls below and definitely not below the last xpac story dungeon.
