    Epic Battle: AF vs. Inventory

I realize SE has been hard at work at the so-called "mannequin" system for gear, but I have no idea what that entails. That being said, I figured surely something could be done about the strain all this AF places on our inventories.

Each set of job armor has the same five slots. Instead of receiving individual pieces as actual inventory, why not have a generic set of armor, let's call it Prismatic armor, that acts as the AF for the job you currently are.

    For example:

Say I'm a THM and I switch over to BLM. I then equip my Prismatic Helm, which, as a BLM would appear as my Wizard's Petasos with the appropriate stats. How about WAR? No problem. It would then be my Fighter's Burgeonet instead.

I doubt this would be simple on the coding side of things, but it would ease up the burden of carrying up to 7 different sets of AF gear, not including weapons or future jobs. Here we would only have at most 6 pieces (assuming some sort of prismatic weapon is included).

Or maybe I just like the word "prismatic" (I blame Chrono Cross!)

*edit: I'm getting the impression that some misunderstand my proposition. I'm not saying we should have one piece count for an entire set of AF, thus not allowing you to mix and match other types of gear with AF. There would be 5 pieces of armor, so if you only want to wear the AF body, then just equip the prismatic body piece and fill in the rest of the slots with what you want.

I don't like that idea because then i could not combine pieces of AF gear with crafted/dungeons gear

AF is not the end all gear, no point in making a custom system around it. Also our inv has been raised to 200 temporarily to combat inv issues til 2.0. You shouldn't be having to

The mannequin system will solve this more intuitively, as it will serve as additional storage for equipment as well as create a way to easily quick-change gear sets.

Of course you could. Why wouldn't you be able to?

But it's something every job will get in order to unlock all abilities, so we might as well slim down the burden. The inventory cap is temporary, as you said. Hopefully the mannequin system adequately addresses this, though. I wish we could get some more info on it.

They stay in the extra storage slot between your buttcheeks.

My worry of mannequins is not being able to take them with me, then i'll still be carrying everything i am now and putting silly u/u things that i never wear on them... that'll open a whole ... 15 spaces? maybe 20?

Pep, the 'mannequin system' is another way to say 'paper doll system' it's not a physical mannequin like you could have in your mog house in XI, it's a UI element that will allow you to see your equipment on a 'mannequin' so that when you switch jobs/classes that gear will be auto-equipped.
