    Text bots, £€{£€][{£$€[

Ok, am i the only one that think reporting them is waste of time, they just did a "ban" wave, and i have not even noticed any change, i still see the same amount of spam 24/7, so what did they actually do?

Well a few things they really need to do is.

    1. Options for the players to check, do not show or revive messages from free trial accounts. (this is in /say and every where, except party)

    2. Upon registering a free account, provide some ID, this will prevent spammers from being able to just make new accounts over and over and over....

2.1 You can only have 1 free account each ID. If a Spammer, have provided an id, and he then gets flagged for RMT, that ID cannot again make a free account, the ID is then blokket, and can only get a new account by paying for the game and subscription.

    3. Restriction how often you can delete and create chars, as i have seen for now, spam with a char for a while, then logout, delete the char, create a new one, login and spam again, since that char now got new strange name, this way they get around the "ignore" we do or report...

    4. Getting lets say 5 reports within 5 mins, will give the WHOLE account a silence buff for 30 mins, and cannot use the chat in that time.

4.1 If the Account get 5 reports and 30 mins silence buff, more than 2 times within x days, it will get a x day silence buff.

4.2 If the same account, get more than 5 Silence buff within a month, it will be TERMINATED...

    5. Give us a damn spam filter, where you can put in keywords, not to be shown in the chat.

    6. And fork sake, why have you not even done this yet, you know what people report, and what .com and what names they use, so damn just code so that your system looks for those message in chat, and are they mentioned more than a few times, back to point 4, where your system auto silence them.
The 2 weeks i have been playing, its the same shit spammers over and over again, so how the heck can you still allow this to continue, its the same whit in WoW, but atleast there we got addons like Badboy to get rid of those dick wands.

    7. Make an internal filter, lets say people report 4kgold.com and they then change their spam messages to 4kgold.c0m and what not, when enough people have reported those, your system then needs to "learn" the new names, and variants, and just silence them, so when enough variants have been reported, then your system learns from the text, and deals with it.

#4 is really the only one I'd even consider.

The war against RMT is an arms race. I agree that they could certainly be doing a better job, but if your automatic measures to combat them aren't well thought through, you can often just make identifying them harder for yourself later when you try to purge them from the system.

    1. This will definitely inhibit the experience for some new legitimate users.

    2. What ID did you have in mind? This is a global game on the internet, so the only thing I can think of is like... a social media account, but you can create Google accounts for free, so that's not really a hurdle.

    3. Unless you actually had a method for #2 that actually worked, then #3 is ineffective, and is just a hassle for legitimate users that like to try out characters before they finalize on one.

    4. They should definitely implement something along these lines. It's VERY frustrating that reporting RMT doesn't even temporarily blacklist them from the reporter's chatbox. I don't want to waste blacklist slots on bots that I'll probably never see again, but a temporary blacklist would be nice, even if it got cleared every time you switched zones.

    5. It's an option I suppose, but I really wouldn't put the onus on the user for this sort of thing.

    6. Since the spammers already use some semi-butchered URLs and such, I'd say they already do block certain strings, but every time you update the things you're looking for, they'll just find a new way around the restrictions.

    7. I don't particularly trust machine learning, but sure if you could actually develop such a thing.

As ID, MasterCard for instance, i know of other sites, that uses those as ID, to make sure that its not just well xxxxx persons that register, and that its actually valid person.

On creating an account, you will just like if you buy some thing on the net, have to validate your self, with a "fake" buy, for 0.1 euro, this way you cannot just put in some numbers, i know this is not some thing they probably will consider, since they TBH, do not really care about those g sellers, its all a "we do care, pretend mode they all do", but if they really cared, they would do some thing more about them, and not just once what ever 3-4 month.

And yeah, if you report one RTM, it should be a temp blacklist, for instance, lets say you reporter 100, and when you report the next, the first one in the list will be removed, and every time you report a new one, the oldest just get removed. Or reporting them, just makes them blacklisted til you logout, needs to be the whole account, this way it may feels like that your report is actually a bit worth it, since you know you wont have to see that account at least for the day. Instead of the bot, just spams for 20 mins or what ever, then logs out, delete the char and remake the char.

If they were to implement a filter, they ofc have to update it ofthen, but that should not be a problem, in WoW with badboy, and its predefined filters + my setup, i really cant say when i last saw spammers.
I know they are using sneaky ways to spell their "company names".

But tbh, a clear way to see that square-enix have done NOTHING to prevent them from spamming, for a while now i have seen the same 4KGOLD.COM spamming, they have 0 tricky letters or numbers in the name, they even do not try to hide it, there are no reason, since there are NO FILTERS, or addons where you can remove them, so why make it harder for their customers to figure out what their company name is, when they can just type it 100% as it is. no reason to try to do a "4, k, g, 0 l_ D . c, 0 m" or what ever.

But all comes down to square-enix and other company like Blizzard, they will lose money if they did, people are lazy and would quit faster if they had to grind all the G them self, for stuff they want. If there were no one that would buy the G, there would be no "company" that would offer the service.

But no company yet have done a real in game spam filter, its not that they cant, clearly people that makes the spam filters fro EsO, WoW... they can do it, so its not impossible, its just the company them self wont, they do not want to lose the real life money they provides in the end.

But for now im just "rude", i have removed Say, Yell, Shout from my chat, so wont be able too see when some one next to me is "saying" some thing to me.

Some day, a game studio, will do some thing real, something smart, but it req a company that actually cares about their customers, and not only the money they brings, but for now its Bring the money, not the player.
