Question about FFLogs

To OP. Remove anything in your post about you using ACT. Some are "report happy" and won't miss a chance to report people for liking ACT and using it.

As for privacy, as some stated, it's not a violation of your own privacy, since you have no claim of the data generated in the game. Only SE does.

You can say act, just can't give a link to it.

FFlogs is fine, just as people said. Don't talk about to people you don't know or are not ok with it. Don't harrass people with it.
People not knowing they were uploaded doesn't really mean anything, if said person REALLY doesn't like it. They must know about FFLOGS and in that case, they can make an account and hide their parses.

I generally wouldn't talk about it at all ingame. If anything I'd say "My guess would be your DPS was pretty good, probably a 80/100 or so" ^^ For everything else, there's out of game stuff like discord.

From personal experience, blocking your parses on FFlogs tends to cause more harm then good as far as how willing people will be to invite you to parties.

It is pretty annoying to be getting judged by people when you aren't actively uploading your own parses to ensure the average DPS people are seeing is actually accurate, though...

My guess is people only upload their best runs, why would they uplod bad ones? So parses other's upload might be a more realistic representation than what a person uploads themself ^^

Eh, I had a friend who ended up with a bad parse on FFlogs because one of their brainlet static teammates ended up loading the parse from their first clear of E1S. A clear where my friend ended up dead for awhile as the tank because the healer wasn't healing them and said brainlet DPS was pulling sub-optimally as well. It's rare at that level but it does happen sadly. Thankfully a few more proper runs fixed the issue but said friend was /not/ pleased when they found out.

Everyone has bad runs occasionally. Profiles without bad runs are as suspicious as businesses with only 5 star ratings... everyone knows stuff like that just doesn't happen ^^ Also everyone who runs statics etc know how to read FFLOGs. You can see someone died and you can see how they did up to that point. You can see if there is improvement from 1st logged kill (which is usually always a "barely made it" kill) to 20th logged kill etc.

Occasional bad logs literally mean nothing.

The question is... I just found ACT & FFlogs last week, I'm a little confused about the FFlogs...
Isn't that webside kind of illegal or something like violating in-game privicy policy?

its not private data, so its not illegal. however, it is against the TOS of FFxiv. It's also been around for years and highly watched streamers use them on stream with no punishment, so make your own judgement.

You can easily add “flogs-hidden” (without the quotes) to your Lodestone profile to opt out without having to create an account on the website. However, you may end up blacklisted by PF groups and statics for doing so.

Note this only counts for Savage and Ultimate, the hardest content in the game. As a new or casual player you won't be blacklisted by anyone for hiding your logs.

According to the replies, I think maybe my work makes me more sensitive to these things than others:
My job "records" people in public place oftenly (voices or movments, most time not the main purpose, but it will), so before we start working we usaully try notice people in the area, if they don't like to been "record", they can wait or leave for a while. After that, we also do some protection works like pixelated faces or mute/cut dialogues.
We all know they can't sue us(if we do our job quiet and quick, they won't even know..), but we don't want anyone feel uncomfortable.

I just could't turn around my thinking immediately few hours ago, thought people should or will cares about their digital footprints like real one lol
Or maybe this is JUST a game and I'm too serious...

Personally i hide mine,at worse if i get locked out cause ppl cant see my parses constantly i can quit and play another game no biggy,tho i love FFXIV my dps is my own thing
