Please implement a lottery for plots instead of spamming placards for hours

The title says it all. I see a lot of threads complaining about housing and very few offering solutions. I know this solution has been brought up before but I’d like to bring it up again.

I’ve seen multiple people sit at one placard for HOURS not playing the game in hopes of getting a house instead. Please implement a lottery system for players AND Free Companies (one chance per FC) where you click the placard, acknowledge that if you win the gil will be automatically deducted, and you have that window to build a structure. If you do not have the gil available or the structure hasn’t been built within the required amount of time, the lottery will re-draw and you will lose your chance.

Another variance to the lottery is instead of deducting gil automatically, the player has a 12 hour window to show up and claim the house and paying upon claim. The placard will show the players name and (pending) next to it on both the placard and the housing residential list.

Many of us have jobs and families and sitting there for hours clicking a placard just isn’t feasible. I’ve seen people sit longer for a house (and not even get it!) than they spend in savage content for the week. Something needs to change.

The fact that they can't just implement the same rules as Cactpot is absolutely amazing. Myself and 3 others were camping a house for 5 hours just to have someone pop up and relocate. Idc what the old system was, what's currently in place is not the solution by ANY means

Why would you implement the same rules as Cactpot when it's possible for several weeks to pass before someone wins Cactpot? Imagine the outrage if that continued to happen week after week on the open plots for a world, sitting there unused because no one has picked the winning number that was generated by the game.

Then imagine 3 different players had all picked the winning number in a drawing and were left fighting over who got to the own the house. Or do none of them get it, so yet another drawing needs to be held?

People who keep asking for a lottery don't truly want a lottery. They want a raffle where a single winner is picked from the eligible entries received. Even those who describe a raffle have different systems with different rules in mind. If SE were to decide they could program one that would work and implement, you'd get a lot of people complaining that SE was doing it the wrong way.

Like it or not, this was a solution to the problems we were seeing before the timer was added. Few of the people trying to buy housing now saw that mess in action. Is this a good solution? No, but still better than what had been happening.

There's only one good solution - instanced housing where every player who wants a house can get one without fighting over them. Whether or not SE decides that's something they're going to make happen is anyone's guess.

People who are placard-clicking are already subjecting themselves to RNG, albeit only against other placard-clickers at that time.

Your solution merely opens up the RNG lottery to a significantly higher number of players, resulting in your individual chances of obtaining a house being slashed and exposing more players to the harsh negative reality of RNG and potentially upsetting a larger volume of players.

The only solution is supply that meets demand.

Or for Square Enix to publicly and clearly state that housing is exactly as it is and won't be changed anytime soon.

I agree. Some sort of system other than waiting hours on end. I sat at a house over an hour the other day just for someone to transfer their house onto a plot I was waiting at. Now I'm waiting at other plots here and there for small parts of my day. I have a full time job and raid 3x per week and can't justify waiting hours at a plot waiting for a random timer to just pop up out of nowhere >.<

Or just not sit there for hours, spamming the placard?

I get it. You really want a house. But there are much better ways to house-hunt. There are plenty of communities out there with the sole intent to minimize how many hours you're there, clicking on a placard like a zombie. Some even go the extra mile and you can be pinged (on discord, that is) when a house on your server goes up for sale, so you can pick-and-choose which ones to go pay attention to with the highest chance of getting a house being in the Goblet. (Assumedly, at least.)

Personally, getting a house isn't worth any stress or pain (physical or otherwise) you may put yourself through by depriving yourself of basic needs.

Not saying you do, but I know a few people that have gone the entire day (for them it was 30 or so hours of camping) barely eating or drinking. Because of the firm belief that when they leave, it sells.

Yeah...doesnt matter if youre "proactive" or not.
If you arent there at the right time you arent getting a house. Especially on a high pop server.
And you can put worth on something for someone else. Thats not for you to decide.
People (like myself) have those beliefs because weve seen it happen countless times.

while that's true, I find that statement rather humorous.

You realize that is you outright admitting that a house. A virtual thing in a Virtual world means more to you than your general health and wellbeing? Do you know how terrible that is? Like.. From any perspective? You won't really be able to enjoy that lovely house of yours if you black out and suffer damage (very rarely is it permanent, but plenty of things can have lingering effects) over it.

I can personally doubt anyone would enjoy buying a house, only to lose it because they got hospitalized due to not taking care of themselves. (A gross over-statement, but the point still stands.)

But hey, if you want to sit there for hours, clicking and spamming a placard and slowly risk more and more health issues (carpel tunnel being the most risky one from such an 'exercise') then I guess more power to you..? You do you, I suppose. But that still sounds ludicrous.

Way to take my comment and completely blow it out of proportion. And please show me where I said any of that in my post.

    Pretty easy.

There you go. You admitting your belief of "if I leave, it sells and I lose it" low-key stating that you are ignoring general health concerns, because that would take you away from the virtual house you're trying to obtain.
