Is there a macro command for this...

I'm looking for a command to only use a certain ability when a buff isn't present.
For context, I had Kaiten macroed to Iajutsu in one button. Now that the recast has been brought from 5 seconds to 1 second (that's not really helping SAM's dps problems), I can foresee issues.

Is there a command that can save me from needing 2 buttons all over again?

I don't really understand why the recast change would screw with your macro (I suppose you probably have multiple macro lines of Kaiten because the macro system sucks), but that aside... Sadly, no. The macro system doesn't really have any ability to do if/then stuff. Also, the macro system is garbage for combat and should be avoided if you can help it.

For the moments where between the time you press it, and the time you iajutsu, something happens that necessitates backing off. Before, I'd have a 5 second leeway before I run the risk of losing the 20 kenki for nothing. Now, looks like I'm separating the buttons.

Using separate buttons is the correct answer. You're losing almost a full second of uptime every time you use iaijutsu with your original setup. That's a full GCD or more every two of those.

In general you should not macro things you need to press a lot. I know that sounds counter-intuitive but with the way this macro system works it is the truth.

I didn't lose uptime with my old setup actually. Just pressed the macro between the GCD for kaiten with no clipping. Unless there's some funky artificial lag macros cause that I'm unaware of.

So is there really 0 macro commands that could somehow eliminate the risk of excessive kaiten use? Like a command that says "wait 3 seconds before using X again"? I'm not overreacting when I say having to change muscle memory for this change is going to suck otherwise.

    There really isn't.

You can issue a /wait command or end a command with a <wait> tag, but those will insert a delay before absolutely anything else will happen. Inserting a delay that will only prevent one thing from happening isn't possible with this macro system.

There is. Macro abilities don’t queue with your GCD, so it results in you clipping your next GCD with said macro.
