    Small Blue Mage discussion

    Hello there.

    I've been quite sad over the last few weeks over a certain class we all know as being ,at the moment,quite useless so I wanted to see what other people think about this too.


    Now Blue Mage. A class that has been quite popular in the previous Final Fantasy games,right? I've honestly always wanted to play this class in the game and I was extremely excited when I saw the reveal,of course just untill I saw the words "Limited Job" plastered on my screen.

    I appreciate the masked carnival side content and I actually had fun with it but I genuinely would love to play Blue Mage in actual content.


    What do other people think about this? Do you think Blue Mage is impossible to make as a proper playable job? After all I get that it's hard to make it viable with the "WAY BLUE MAGE WORKS" but please look at Summoner (my main at the moment by the way) is it lore accurate at all as comparison? Yes indeed it became more of a "Summoner" per se with Shadowbringers but what about before.

    This thread pretty much sums up what a lot of people think about the situation.

    TLDR its not a matter if they COULD make a viable BLU, because the answer is yes with a multitude of possible solutions, its a matter of if SE WANTS to invest the resources in doing so.

    Savage Completion Rate ~5%+ of active players. Community: "Ugh stop catering to savage"
    Ultimate Completion Rate ~1% of active players. Community: "Ugh stop catering to the hardcore raiders"
    Frontline/ Rival Wings/ Hidden Gorge Mount Aquisition ~0.05-1% of active players. Community: "Ugh PVP is so dead in this game, they should stop investing in it"
    Blue Mage Morbol Mount Aquisition ~0.01% of active players. Community: "WoW bLuE mAgE iS sO fUn AnD aCtIvE i CaN't WaIt FoR mOrE lImItEd JoBs"

    I'm sad about its current state as well. I can only hope SE looks at these threads and understands "most" of us prefer an actual job.

    I think it's easily possible, but the probability of SE working on blu as something other than side content remains unseen.

    One solution is create a new Soul Crystal for BLU. When equipped, it limits the BLU to 25 pre-selected spells that cannot be changed or customized, but are altered and balanced for party play. It would also enable a job gauge for BLU and whatever mechanic/resources they would use for their role. BLU can either equip the limited or unlimited job crystal. The limited crystal would allow them to learn spells and do solo content and all the things it can do -currently-. The unlimited crystal would set pre-determined spells and acquired through leveling up or quests like other jobs but be allowed to partake in duties. So it would be divided into a minigame BLU we have now and a party BLU we all want.

    I mean BLU is far from overpowered, they only have like 3-5 spells that make them "overpowered" which could totally be balanced.

    I think the development team should take a chance and allow them to do party content while nerfing obvious op spells.

    Would be nice if this happened in 5.1 it Could be considered BLU beta phase while preparing them for 6.0 lv90 cap.

    I'd rather have them commit to one or the other. Have Blue Mage be overpowered in outdated content at the risk of only being able to play with your friends, or balance it out and make it able to operate in content.

    At the very least, let people use it for MSQ and Solo Duties.

    I think the larger issue is balance, not in the way of balancing BLU's skills since they can be balanced in a reasonable way, but I believe they're apprehensive about throwing a brand new job into the casting role and needing to deal with the headache that is balancing the other jobs. I'd rather them focus on balancing what we already have for shadowbringers but I do hope at some point BLU is considered into the casting role for a new expansion.

    I don't see why they wouldn't . The concept is there,the class is in the game,it already has 90% of the animations it needs (they need more tbh) hey even have the weapon figured out too they just need to balance it.
