    Legal gambling now?

So with the recent trailer for NBA 2K20 with its virtual casino and the Rating system like PEGI giving this a rating E for everyone, do you think there’s a possibility that SE will implement a way to be able to use our MGP in the Golden Saucer for bets to either majong, triple triad, or lord of vermillion?

Unlikely, different countries have different laws and this kind of gambling might not be allowed in certain countries

you cant buy MGP with money, though. gambling with virtual currency that cant be traded for real currency isnt gambling, AFAIK.

Depends on a given country's laws. Even if legal, it still tends to drive up a game's rating. It's why Pokemon games have dropped the Game Corners.

Since this game is rated as T for Teen, there's no chance that gambling is going to be added to this game.
Since this rating only allows "simulated gambling"

I wouldnt bank on this system being to widespread in games. For better or worse, one of the few things governments seem to be quick on is regulating against things that can directly impact minors. A 'legal' gambling casino in a video game accessible by minors is gonna end up forcing legislation to outlaw said practices by redefining gambling to include this kind of format. That and basic market practices dont generally support this model. Average consumers see it as scummy. It's much the same way that lootboxes are not widely popular and are losing steam. Devs put them in but people arent typically buying.

I would highly doubt it would be added. I have seen youtube videos complaining about how pokemon, with simplistic gambling that is clearly fake money, is rated HIGHER (in the EU, PEGI 12 vs PEGI 3) than NBA 2k20, which has a rating for little kids. If it was added tho, come re-rating time for the next expansion, the rating might be bumped up to AO 21+ at worst (what I could see occurring if laws get implemented that are as bad as they could be should anything that has gambling come under gambling commission oversight). At best, a gambling notification would be added to the T rating. If the rating goes to AO 21+, revenue from the game will drop like a stone as subs are cancelled.

Having watched a video about the 2k20 I find it funny how the rating board give Pokemon a T because of simulated visuals of gambling, yet 2k20 gets an E/3 rating.

Gambling/slots is pretty tightly regulated in Japan from what I recall, so it's unlikely we'll ever see something like that in game. We might see something like a gacha prize screen but never 'slots'.

Also the video games rating boards are pretty notoriously corrupt and recently were one of the parties trying to prevent in game gambling from being regulated over in the UK. So the fact that they rated it E/3 isn't surprising to me. They likely got a pretty nice donation from 2K.
