I've been playing FFXIV since 1.0 launch, and when i wasn't taking short breaks from the game between certain patches, I was practicing all the different jobs and trying to experience as much of the varied types of content available.
After much deliberation, and with zero experience in video editing or content creation, I decided to make a YouTube page with the goal of sharing my knowledge and experience with the rest of the community.
Teaching myself through practice, experimentation, and watching other content creators "how-to" guides, i've seen an evolution in the media i've produced, and it's beginning to take on a life of it's own.
My video's dedicated to New Player Guides have been pretty much wrapped up, but i'm always thinking of new ideas, or coming across simple things experienced players take for granted that a first-time player, or even a casual veteran might not understand through lack of experience. As these things crop up, i'll be sure to make some guides on them. (Gatherer and Crafter Scrips is one I can think of off the top of my head)
But my experiments with video editing have started to lead me down a different path, and I struggle with my own lack of experience and expertise in the software. I've found that, despite the enjoyment and sense of productivity I get from creating new-player guides, i'm developing a real passion for completely different kind of content creation.
I want my videos to tell a story, and strike a chord with the viewer on a personal or even emotional level. As I learn more about presentation of media, and the science of connecting with my target audience, I hope that the quality of my video's continues to improve, grow, and evolve into something really worth watching.
Check out my YouTube channel, and let me know what you think!
