Nope. I fully admit that my paranoia is founded on hearsay as I myself find it very difficult to believe that a GM would take action against logical and constructive criticism but to be frank: better safe than sorry. I value my cat far too much in order to risk her well being.

That's because it is an insult.
Plain and simple. Calling another player "trash" is non negotiably (I just made that word up :< ) crossing the line.

If you want to refer to bad players use the term "weak players" or "below average players". You'll say the same thing w/o insulting half the community.

I have never in my life ever heard of anyone being offended by asking them their name.

I wouldn't be offended of course but I would deny you an answer nonetheless.
I do not share RL data with people I do not trust and it takes a lot of time for me to trust you.
