Any chance we can get Trust system as open world content?

I just hate the Chocobo Companion. It was a pretty stupid system to bring in. I do not remember Cloud fighting Sephiroth with a chocobo. I do not remember Tina fighting Kefka with a Chocobo. I do not remember Tidus fighting Sin with a chocobo. I do nto remember a chocobo becoming one of the Warriors of Light to fight Exdeath. I could go on and on. Point being Chocobo Companions do not belong in the game.

I dont remember fighting the end boss of any of the previous games in a random encounter on the world map. And the birds arent as bad as you make them out to be. No, they cant really tank but their DPS is better then some people i get paired with in DF and they heal enough to keep me up for quite awhile. Just gotta get them levels.

It a shame we got stuck with the dumb bird. As it pretty much useless. It can not hold agro as a tank. It healing is trash and it dps is trash. At less with the trust system they can do their job. If you where to go into a dungeon with 3 Chocobos. Well you are screwed.

Their heals are actually pretty potent. Not equal to another player, sure, but good enough to get the job done. I know there have been job quests with non-instanced combat where my birds heals made all the difference. And free damage is free damage.

No comment about tanking, I never spec'd my bird into that.

Agreed, the Healer spec for the Chocobo can be very useful, the trick is not to actually master that spec so it doesn't learn Choco Medica, which is a far less potent spell than the base 'Choco Cure' is (if is mastered it will always use Choco Medica over the former), hence throwing some points into the other specs can be useful. I do admit though that it's AI isn't the best and it tends to waste a lot of time trying to buff its healing potency over just healing as needed (putting it specifically into Healer stance instead of the default helps a lot too as it will then use Choco Cure pretty much all the time instead of only when you're at 25% health or less).

However Ramza, the best ff protagonist, did defeat Ultima with a Chocobo. Boco was his name.

If not MSQ NPCs, I'm still open to the idea of Retainer(s)/Squadron companions. Rather tired of Chocobos.

But yeah, since there really isn't much of anything outside in the open-world to do, it almost seems pointless. And when they were asked about it way-back-when for more companions, their response was basically "Ew programming new companion UI/more actions & emotes. Pass"
