IF you like fishing, this is abundantly true. Some of us loath it, but have it leveled(or are working on it) anyway incase we need a specific fish for some new recipe. OP, the first 15 levels are easy for each crafting class too. Go to the guild, make friends with their supplier NPC. He sells the mats to make everything up to level 15. One of each recipe should get you there in a hurry(30ish mins per class is a safe estimate). After that you get to decide if you want to boost one class fast, do everything at once, or work in batches(5 levels of this, now 5 levels of that, etc). They can all share gear if theyre close, and you can make most of your own required parts(this armor needs some leather padding? i can do it!). Remember grand company turn ins, leve quests(arguably better for gatherers then for crafters), and unlock your crafting beast tribes if you havent already(ixali in north shroud for 1-50, moogles in churning mist for 51-60, namazu in azim steppe for 61-70). Eventually you can add collectables(custom delivery! do it!) to the mix.

Oh, and yes. Doing your gatherers first does help too. Carpenter needs some new cut of wood to work with? Your high level botanist can get as much as you need quickly and easily. It isnt required to level them first(some people keep all 11 classes close together), but the only downside is that at higher levels you might need help with gathering gear(at least until your crafters catch up and you can make your own).
