Back when we actually had some uniqueness to the game, warriors would complain that paladins had better mitigation than them, white mages complained that the other healers got picked more in savage raids. So what did they do? They homogenized the jobs. Now there's no real unique traits to any of the healers and tanks beyond a few niche skills, and I was literally told in one of my posts that if I want uniqueness, I should just play a DPS.
We've got to a point where people are now asking for homogenization with costumes and animations. I don't think you all realize what it is you're asking for, in another few months after you guys get your costumes then people are gonna ask for animations "This is 2020, why are running and idle animations locked to specific races!" And SE will once again cave to the mob instead of confidently sticking to their creative direction and there will be nothing unique to any of our characters besides racial features. Hell maybe you'll even ask for that, give bunny ears to Roes or cat tails to midlanders!
STOP with the homogenization. Take the loss for the sake of not completely ruining what's left of what makes each character unique (aesthetics). When people say "If you want girl clothes just play a girl" They don't say it cause they're homophobes or transphobe bigots, maybe they just wanna keep what makes their characters feel rare and unique without the meme squad coming in to take it all away.

You are making a problem out of nothing. Your strawmanning brings nothing to the table.Back when we actually had some uniqueness to the game, warriors would complain that paladins had better mitigation than them, white mages complained that the other healers got picked more in savage raids. This is definitely a problem in terms of job design as not everyone wants to play x, but everyone is forced to play x as you can only play x as class 1 2 and 3 all play like x while class 1 used to play like x, class 2 like y, and class 3 as z. This, however, isn't that kind of homogenization. This is literally a way to add options for people rather than subtracting options. Two entirely opposing things as we are allowing gender 1 to wear outfit a and b, and gender 2 to wear outfit a and b, rather than gender 1 only being allowed to wear outfit a, and gender 2 being only allowed to wear outfit b.
Learn, explore, and think for yourself. Make your choices, take actions, and let yourself be free.

People wanting genderlocking on costumes to go =/= "they're going to homogenise EVERYTHING". The sky isn't falling. Animations and jobs aren't the same thing as glamours.

Lmao, there's already glamour pieces that will be widely chosen over a bajillion others. And character creation is so limited, there's very little variation in characters either.Back when we actually had some uniqueness to the game, warriors would complain that paladins had better mitigation than them, white mages complained that the other healers got picked more in savage raids. Appearances are already "homogenized."

I think racial animations and outfits should stay within their race, but the gender restriction serves no purpose. Miqote should be able to wear miqote clothes and do miqote things, gender should have no bearing.
There's really no sense behind restricting cosmetics by gender.
If a Female roe can fit into Krile's outfit why can't a male miqote?
The development team are already stretched thin as it is. I'd quite like them to focus on designing more masculine looking gear, hairstyles and customisation options for male characters instead of spending time unlocking the ability for male characters to wear more dresses.
I'm still waiting for the stubble used in promotional footage to be made available. I'd also like more effort to be put into the male exclusive hairstyles and NPC outfits. Hien's outfit suffers from alarming texture issues and doesn't come with his hairstyle.
Man I hear ya would love to see something like this. The development team are already stretched thin as it is.
