Once console are 4k at 60fps and cheaper than a PC and all its equipment it wins hands down for companies to develop on and people to sell games with. It's a hard truth one day PCs with the plethora of options will be the thing that kills it, but hey that's the name of the game.

For one a Ps6 doesn't exist but the Ps5 will crush your computer when it comes to , development optimization, costs, accessibility. The new ps5 standard comes with a SSD, and the ability to run any VR headset, 4k and 8k, 4k at minimum 60fps and 8k at 30 and 8k for media. That alone is better than 90% of all laptops and custom PCs built out here.
Again, PCs will always have the ability to be more powerful and more flexible than any console, any generation, and always will be. That "standard" is old news and will be quickly outdated upon release. The refreshes are less convenient than PC upgrades in most cases, and on top of that, PCs have the ability to add on limitless content in the form of the mod scene. While the PS5 may happen to be backwards compatible, PC pretty much always is for any game ever made on it for the past several decades.

I've never read a more idiotic thing in my entire life. The PS5 won't even be as powerful as PCs are now.

The PC's aren't holding anything back.

What YoshiP said is that they want to reach the biggest amount of players possible on PC, wich is why they are reluctant to increase the minimum requirements. So, it's purely them trying to reach a large audience. But they did phase out the PS3 version, so a graphics upgrade may indeed have to happen despite some people who refuse to upgrade be left behind in place of the new ones that the better graphics will attract.

Besides, they can't very much present a game 2 gens behind on the PS5. There will be graphical upgrades to the game. The question will be when. Maybe not next expansion but surely the one after has to.

I won't upgrade immediately unless there some insanely new feature for the PS5 version... like enhanced textures or something.

Otherwise I'll just keep playing on PS4 toaster until they stop supporting it (PS5 will be cheaper then too).

I'm fairly certain there won't be a preorder, considering it sounds like the PS5 is backwards compatible with PS4 games entirely.

The biggest reason PS4 got pre-order bonuses, was they were planning to drop PS3 support very early on, but had to wait for the right moment to do so.
It was an enticement to get you to switch up to make the impact less... impactful.

I don't think they plan to drop PS4 support, so I doubt there will be any perks for scaling up at this point.

I never preorder a game system on day one. Cause it will have many issues and break on the same day you buy.

The PS5 will be BC with PS4 games. Since PS5 will most likely be able to boost the performance of the PS4 client to 4K/60fps, is there any point in making a PS5 client?

As long as they let us transfer our ps4 version to ps5 like they did with the ps3, i don't mind.

If you were to take a representative sample of all the PC’s that people game on ... I have to wonder whether the average power of those PC’s meets or exceeds that of the two main consoles (PS4, Xbox).

Two major assumptions are made in the whole ‘PC vs Console’ debate :

One is that the potential of PCs is always realized. That because a PC can be upgraded, it always is upgraded. That may be true in some cases, but it is not true in all cases.

The other is that the maximum hardware specs available determine the game’s potential. It is the minimum specs, not the maximum specs, that ‘hold the game back’. When the game was on PS3, the PS3 had lower specs than most PC’s. Thus, it could truthfully be said, and SE even said it (citing PS3 limitations), that the PS3 was holding the game back. Now? Is the PS4 holding the game back? Are the minimum specs higher than what a PS4 can manage? Or are the PC’s holding the game back, with their older legacy components?

Its nice to see a few in this thread that are not making the same baseless assumptions. I just wish it was more the norm than the exception.
