Things being fair robs stuff of its value?.... very fail. Things being fair robs people of the ability to epeen, that's all it does. Equal reward for equal work isn't QQ society. (which btw i hate too, this isn't part of QQ society though). Removing luck, or as they have now, some of the luck required to get stuff like this isn't as terrible as some people make it out to be.
Its changing to 5/10 now right? Seems a fair enough middle ground, so quit QQ'n about QQ'rs and -deal with it-, as so many people suggest to everyone already.
But it is. Imagine if everyone who went to the Casino won. Or imagine if everyone who played the lottery got a share of the prize. Or imagine if everyone who played the stock market made lots of money. Its really..well ridiculous. Not everyone would be opposed to a life like that, but frankly, I am. Equal reward for equal work takes all the mystery, fun, excitement, and "chance" out of everything. You automatically know what you're going to get based on how hard you work. No thanks, sounds terrible. And what about ppl who can't put in equal work in FFXIV because they have lives. Should they automatically be inferior, despite the fact that they pay the same amounty of money? I would say no, but your little theory would say otherwise. Luck is the "great equalizer" in the world...it has no biases and levels the playing field.Things being fair robs stuff of its value?.... very fail. Your logic makes it sound like that everyone who goes home to study for a couple hours should get an A, or every aspiring singer who practices for hours should become a star, etc etc. I applaud your egalitarianism but thats just silliness. Being a star would have no value if everyone could do it with enough work. Making it in the stock market would have no value if everyone did it either. Just like winning a championship is rather pointless if every team that tries just as hard wins too. Of course it robs things of its value. Would a diamond be as valuable if everyone and their mother could get their hands on one? How much is a rock worth? Practically nothing..because they were everywhere and easily obtained by anyone.
I have no problem with the 5/10 totem thing, I was debating a suggestion made by someone else that is not even implemented in the game. And I'll QQ about QQ'rs, as you will QQ about QQ about QQ'rs. But that wasnt even the bulk of the post so I fail to see where you get that impression, unless voicing an opinion = QQ these days. Its changing to 5/10 now right? Lol...okay there we have the reason..."America"...this has nothing to do with america...this isn't RL...But it is. Imagine if everyone who went to the Casino won. Winning at the casino, or the lottery is a luck based system and everybody knows that when he's doing it. They ENJOY the luck factor of it, while in a game that is meant to entertain us, a luck based system is just Bullshit. If everyone is investing the same time, then everyone should get the same rewards out of it. One person who gets 7/7 in 30 kills is not comparing to another who took 300 fights to get 7/7.
There is no MMORPG out there these days that doesn't have a "fixed" drop after the kill. There might be a pool of drops where one item drops less often then another, but you're guaranteed a drop, no matter what. That's how it supposed to be. I don't mind them adding an item to that loot pool that only got a chance of 0,1% chance to drop...but everyone(not necessarilly each single person, but the group as a whole) should get rewarded by a guaranteed drop. Sure we don't need 100% Totems or 100% weapons for each person. But 1 Weapon drop per kill is absolute fine(distributed through the Loot list). Considering the same group of people will kill Ifrit every time it would take 56 kills to get each one of the groups members 7/7. THIS loot system would also give duplicates at some point that everyone the group already got, so they would drop to nirvana, but that's fine. At that point it's just waiting for the right weapon to drop, not hoping for RNG that any weapon at all drops.
BTW: I'm european myself (I assume you are too) and my experience with other europeans is...they are so full of themselves and usually full of shit...
PS: My first Ifrit weapon was PUG fists...my first Moogle weapon was....PUG fists...my PUG has been 38 at that time...
But I enjoy the luck system!! It makes me feel aliiiive....and the only thing I waste is time and not money lol. As I acknowledged not everyone would be opposed to your system, but I would be quite sad if there was no luck going on. Having "lucky" things is a good feeling...im still thrilled about my Ifrit lance and ive had it for a while lol.Lol...okay there we have the reason..."America"...this has nothing to do with america...this isn't RL...

Yesssss! I got recognized as a European by a European! All those university classes paid off, I gotta say as an American im frickin thrilled I can pass myself off as a European. Thank god I don't come across as the typical international image of an American aha. Im curious about what led to this assumption :OBTW: I'm european myself (I assume you are too) and my experience with other europeans is...they are so full of themselves and usually full of shit...
What a coincidence..my first weapon was pug fists lol.PS: My first Ifrit weapon was PUG fists...my first Moogle weapon was....PUG fists...my PUG has been 38 at that time...
This isn't real life, this isn't a casino, this isn't the stock market. This isn't about being smarter, more talented or more gifted IRL. Its about people putting in an equal amount of work in a game they all enjoy. Unfairly distrubuting rewards makes no sense.
People play games to take a break from their lives, to take a break from the RL system that doesn't reward people fairly. If you want to draw similarities to RL: why isn't my mnk stronger than someone else's? WTF!?!!? all the jobs have the same abilities and oppurtunities available to everyone else who plays that job? BULLSHIT I SAY! I should be rewarded with better abilities and higher base DPS and stats because of natural talent or because someone has to get lucky.... Nothx.
I am not agree whit the reduction to half. I think they must let the number of totems whiout changes, even make it bigger, but increase the drop rate of totems to 100%. I wil be happy whit a 100% drop rate on totems and the needed of 40-50 totem go get a weapon of choice. Hope SE rethink about it.

Christ, I'm 2/27 on just BEATING Ifrit, much less getting a primal weapon, even moreso less than getting the two weapons I need.
I need to find a static.
