    Specialist in Shadowbringers?

I'm sure there will be the master books that can only be accessed by the specialists for a while, eventually.

I know the "Three R's" are powerful.

We lost Bygrot's Blessing completely, so the 100% success chance that it used to have for specialists is gone now.

Infinity Whistle? I suspect the time when this worked has now passed? With the odds of a good falling every new expansion, these new things must be rarely "good" often enough to let this work?

So, these days it's basically just the +20 stats?

We didnt lose blessing nor Sh2. They have been changed from cross class skills to "regular crafting skills". So you can just drag them back to your hotbar from the action panel.

On the other hand, Brow is gone now. But because Brow is weaker than Blessing in the first place when iq is high, it has almost no impact to both spec and non spec classes.

The whistle system is still just as strong as it has been, but we dont need it... at least not just yet. Currently, we can HQ anything with ease with or without spec. So whistle is kinda waste of time.

The three Rs, the consistent 15 more cp at start and the extra stats are pretty much what specialist is all about at the moment.

There are also some recipes that are specialist-specific. The Titania barding for example can only be crafted by an armorsmithing specialist.

I'm also hoping they use specializations to inform the new desynthesis system they're cooking up for 5.1. Since "everyone can just desynth everything" sounds like a surefire way to crush a bunch of materials markets.

Yes but that's the only kind of thing that specalist is good for.

Specialist was never really well thought out. I’d said back when they were first introduced that they should simply provide all of the cross class moves available to an omnicrafter, if the intended purpose was indeed as stated : to allow the single crafter to compete with the omnicrafter.

Two expansions later, they are in a sort of limbo. SE is providing many of the tools needed to complete crafts to the solo crafter, eliminating the need for many cross class moves. Manip3 kind of (but not completely) removes the need for WN, WN2, and the other durability restoring actions. Every class has SH2 and BB now. If they continue that trend, I would think that WN and Ingenuity would be the next two moves either given out through the 81-90 trek or simply provided for all the way that BB and SH2 were.

So as I said, specialists are in kind of a limbo right now. There’s no reason not to take three, but the main benefit now is the stats. The Soul of the Crafter item is easy enough to get that switching is not all that much of a hardship, so locked recipes are not a huge impediment or advantage.

Specialist has the advantage of much easier macro crafting too. For example you can 100% 2 star gear with Reuse and cheap food/no tea as a specialist quite easily, where a non-specialist will require better gear and food and won't hit the same results.

Honestly, I'm fine with it as it is. I enjoy omni-crafting and self-sufficiency and having the few vanity items like barding is fine. Specialists are basically a nice bonus, rather than being locked to 3 craft professions and severely gimped in the other 5.

Specialist is incredibly strong despite having no real reason to exist anymore. It's just one of the things in a pretty long list that should just be cleaned up with a major rework.
