Itinerant Moogle

OK so I've noticed something the past few days. This would be the Itinerant Moogle I see in major cities. What exactly is this thing & how do you get the tomes they require? The wiki says that they only pop up after events to sell the items that were available during the events or special stuff but I'm looking through the stuff they sell and its some really nice looking things AND mounts and other things. Can someone please explain these things to me & how to obtain the tomes they use to purchase items?

You can't, it was obtainable during the pre-events before Shadowbringers was released.

Unfortunately the event is over so you can no longer get the tomes. The moogles themselves will disappear in patch 5.1

Well crap! I guess I'm out of luck then :-( I'm really curious though, what do the riding maps do? None of the sites say what they do?

The riding maps increase your mount speed.
It's the same things you can get from hunt seals at your GC.

A lot of the items were more efficient to get in other ways anyway. Riding maps are with Allied Seals, mounts and orchestrion rolls (except Answers, which can be purchased on the market board) are either from beast tribes or ARR/HW EX primals and easier to farm from the original fights.

The baby brachiosaur is tradeable and may be cheap on the market board - at least it was on my server after presumably too many people bought it thinking they could make a profit, and crashed the market instead.

The best-value items were probably the Pegasus mount and minion (otherwise bought with Diadem currency) and maybe the fishing bucket.

The only actual exclusive was the Namazu earring.

of course, none of this means they won't bring the moogles back for something else later or a repeat of the event. They used to sell earrings from some other event.

Since the items are on there again, I think SE is going to reactivate getting the tomes once the Rising event begins this year.

It's not "again" though; the moogles just never left. I think to give people an extra chance to spend the times and not forget about them, but it seemed like an odd choice to have them up beyond the event anyway.

Thought they said this event would be reoccurring periodically, but with no information on how often or when.
