    Items with 5 Materia slots?

I know if I push the relic quests in Eurika long enough I'll get class items that look amazing and have 5 materia slots.

I'm not sure I can do that.

I know that items that cover more then one slot of the body tend to have more materia slots then normal, are there any 5 materia slot items like that?

I've been checking shops, and I don't think I missed any that where too obvious, but I thought it would be better to ask then to manually go back through every shop.

    Google has already failed me.

Help me squaresoft forums, your my only hope.

5 slot gear is pretty rare. Why do you want to know which ones have 5 slots, though?

The only current (non-obsolete) gear that has 5 slots is the "Ornate" versions of the i450 body armors.

No, the ones you're thinking about tend to be much older, like the tincan armour that have 4 materia slots on them, but that's because it took up more than one armour slot, and they've moved away from those. Before the relic armour stuff could get 5 slots on them, the only trime we had anything with 100% 5 materia slots were those lucky enough to get 3 lines in their weekly wondrous tails books, stuff you have to get stupid lucky to get, most of which are old/outdated and not worth getting.

Even though the pieces only have two slots, you can also put five melds in the crafted gear pieces. The melds in the last three slots just have a high chance of failing. But why are you asking this?

I'd be quite content with something absolutely Obsolete. But as you seem to know a possible candidate, where can you get the "Ornate i450" items?

Oh, I absolutely know that those only have 4. I was hoping there might be, somewhere in the game, an item that covered even more then 2 slots, but in exchange gave you even more then 4 slots, aka, 5, but perhaps covering the entire body? No? Drat.

So, wondrous tails? If I ever got 3 lines I was going to spend the 2 million GP on a mount, but if I can get what I'm looking for from there, it might be worth it to keep in mind.

Oh yes, I quite know that you can overmeld, got the quest, did it, got the skill.

As to why. To answer that for all of you.

I suspect you are looking at the person with the worst luck at melding that has ever existed. I'm willing to go out of my way to grind up the oldest, most pain in the arse and most out of the way item, just to get the achievement done and never have to look at it again, taunting me.

Looks like you folks are saying my options are:

    1. Take any of the older 4 slot ones, fill it, and then overmeld just ONE TIME and get the achievement. (I've never had it work even once, but if this was the only option I was prepared to accept it)
    2. Get VERY lucky in WT. (17% assuming perfect setup?)
    3. Spend a VERY long time in Eurika.
    4. Find these "ornate ilvl 450" items?

These are the options that put me closest to success?

If you are just interested in the achievement, then this is by far the simplest and quickest option.

If you want the overmeld achievement, you can meld small materia (like direct hit +1) they have a LOT more chance to be overmeld (like 10% for a "big" +60 VS like 30 or 35% for the small +1)

The great irony here is that higher grade materia are much more plentiful, with many ways of obtaining.

It'd be awful nice if there were ways of buying the low grades as well. Especially for anyone mad enough to try to complete multiple ARR relic weapons.

last I tried you can buy really low level equipment and go kill low level mobs for a few minutes and have like a whole set's worth of low level meteria.

Fair enough, but, still more rng involved than just picking the things you want/need.
