I understand your skepticism, all I can tell you is I trust him, and since we have evidence that his account was logged in in Austria when he was logged in in Birmingham 2 hours earlier, it's safe to say this isn't something he plotted.
The GMs refuse to talk to me since I'm a "third party" since the FC chest is "communal" and my account wasn't hacked, I'm technically not a victim despite popping in a good 40 mil of the gil that was stolen.
On the brightside, expect gil prices to drop in phoenix, courtesy of your friendly neighbourhood GMs
i don't blame the gm's for refusing to talk to you,its a matter of your friend got hacked and the actions being done on his account. The GMs refuse to talk to me since I'm a "third party" since the FC chest is "communal" and my account wasn't hacked, I'm technically not a victim despite popping in a good 40 mil of the gil that was stolen.

he needs to conduct the report and talk to them and even customer support if needed.even if he was hacked its his responsibility to report and the gm's will answer to him what they will do to the hacker and about the things he done while he was on his account.they shouldn't answer to anyone else other then the victim itself.
He's doing what he can, I just feel a bit useless and vulnerable since I was robbed too and I'm being pushed to the sidelines.
This whole "FC chests are communal" bs is just another way of them not wanting to do their jobs. It completely disincentivizes having anything other than a complete dictatorship due to their unwilling nature to put any level of safeguards in the game outside of "only the leader can access the chest" and even then, if someone logs on to YOUR account and makes himself able to steal your FC money/items, does that still make it "communal"?
you worry about your gil and maybe your friend but if you truly want to help then let your friend do the report.
he need to report and talk to the gm's and if there is something they need of him like screenshots then try to help him with the screenshots you took during the time of hacking(although i think gm's should be able pull logs and see the activity)and wait for your friend to tell you what SE gm's have done.
as I've mentioned before, they did an account roll back that didn't sort anything out, since most of the money stolen was from the FC chest and not his purse. The FC chest is the pressing matter and so far it appears the GMs don't want to do anything outside of the bare minimum.
again, unless the victim reports he was hacked and his account was used to rob the FC it can fall under the consideration of FC resposibilty. He's doing what he can, I just feel a bit useless and vulnerable since I was robbed too and I'm being pushed to the sidelines.

u need to understand communal means its shared by the FC and how they see fit to allow access to their chest, sometimes its not someone being hacked it could be a misunderstanding or someone taking revenge from his FC its not necessarily hacking.
but since your friend case was his account was hacked and used to robe the FC,if he file that in his report the GM's will most likely respond and do something about it .
but again its not something u can do ,its up to the victim of the case to sort things out with the GM's which if proven true i believe the GM's will restore anything the hacker stole and make sure to ban his accounts and block him from the game.
Update: My friend tells me he can't get anything but automated messages and is unable to reach a GM despite being the victim.
What do we have to do to see a GM? Besides saying bad words in limsa.
either support desk report ,talk to GM's or go to customer support anything else i have no idea.
While there are many ways to contact a GM for whatever purpose, the hard sad truth is you guys are going to need to take the lesson and move forwards.
This is how it's always been, I don't think anything further will ever be done in regards to your situation.
