    Thumbs up Feedback: Please consider making BLU an actual job

    I feel bad for BLU mage and I really want to like it more. But it just feels so irrelevant all of the time. Its pure novelty and I dont feel thats a good thing.

    I'd really love if the devs would take the time to reconsider the job and rework it into something useable for all content. Even if that means it stops being broken or over-powered for the content it can access. Or if it has to lose some spells/etc.

    It deserves better. I know this has been brought up many times before, but please, in the future I hope you'll reconsider it and not bring out anymore limited jobs. I'd hate to see anymore jobs fall prey to the same treatment

    Keep this thread alive and Bumped, its dauntingly long, but it predicted exactly how BLU would go down.

    Honestly for BLU to be my main has been my main wish since I started playing in ARR, the fact this was thrown out to attempt to satiate people asking for BLU is kinda insulting, and the fact that Yoshi-P can only see this as the way to implement it sucks.

    Feel free to give suggestions on how it can evolved from a Limited Job.
    Probably its biggest issue is literally in how a Blue Mage Functions, they'd have to give it fixed functions which could step on the jobs identity., which can also hurt the Job.
    This isn't an easy fix, the current idea is Solid....for a start. But then its limited afterwards. The latter, giving it fixed skills could ruin the Job itself because then its pretty much a glorified Black mage. Not to mention the amount of Balancing they'd have to do to consider making it a Hybrid job: if it keeps Might Guard.

    How would giving it a fixed duty set of spell make it a glorified black mage? Is red mage a glorified black mage? How about smn? BLU is already unique as a caster as its the only caster to have ogcds with cast times, make the class revolve more around those and youll have a distinctly unique feeling mage to the others.

    On thread, I definitely hope something happens to blue mage.

    If they're absolutely against DF Blue Mage then I'd like to see Blue Mage become the solo god- in that way I could feel more use out of the job existing as limited even if I'd be sad I couldn't main it. As currently it does worse what I can already do, and is a bit more time consuming to do it too lol. But if it started getting more power and ridiculous spells like being able to molt (shed) skin such that one of those boss target mechanics hit the molt rather than the player, able to reliably X status inflict like instant kill (I'm fine with it not working on everything, but I'd like a mechanic to increase chance- like cast Faze first to greatly boost % or guaranteed but on long cooldown with no cooldown triggering if target is immune), all of that truly wild jazz, and also bundled in a more tightly bound package.. Then I think it might be fun if not a bit sad I can't main it. On people playing together I've seen some ideas that the more spells you know the more power your character has, such that you could play with friends to avoid collecting them all but you could also gather skills in an order that allows you to basically solo the entire time (by climbing the power ladder in order of difficulty to obtain).

    At the moment spells feel too disconnected which imo makes it not as fun to "play" compared to other jobs. I'd also recommend avoiding naming any future limited jobs after iconic jobs that might have been envisioned DF (like puppet master or beast master), perhaps call it tamer instead- things like that. So even if it's technically a strong message to the players (if tamer exists beastmaster is probably a silent no) there isn't really lost hope or at least a ruined image of what could have been.

    Although at the same time I do think there could be some fun in having advanced jobs that hold both limited and normal components, like blue mage having to go learn their DF spells but they level much faster, and they also gain access to a plethora of other non-DF spells that have some restrictions but are a bit ridiculous. Or Beast Master comes with a series of DoL like mechanics (shepherd/tamer concepts) in the wild but and they could level in a sort of DoL mode (unique to them) but also is set with a kit that works for DF.

    Anyway it'll be very interesting to see what happens to blue mage in 5.1 (or whatever sub patch it comes out in of 5.1). I think we might get a sign of what's to come for Blue Mage then, like they said they're going to introduce some new mechanic(s?) and spells. Maybe this new mechanic glues blue mage's spells together to create more interesting interactions. Or something, not sure, but it'll be interesting to see- might get a hint at if they're interested in our feedback or not.

    In a way? Yes. Redmages thing though is that it also has 2 healer skills, and it has the awesome Dual Cast passive.
    Black Mage doesn't have healing skills, but it does have a skill that allows it to cast 3 spells back to back, kind of like a Super Dual Cast evolved into a Triple Cast.
    Summoner is legit its own thing, so no, its not a Glorified Black Mage.......black mage aint got no AOE like SUmmoners do yoh :P

    But still, the point is how can they turn it ito a full job class that can enter synced Match making, while keeping it balanced, and hopefull ynot step on what makes a blue mage...a bluemage

    Black Mages AOE is actually better than SMN IIRC

    Also you just give BLU mage a set of abilities to learn from the overworld/ dungeons/ trials that are the "balanced" or "Duty", which all have appropriate levels for syncing and have you learn them the same way as we currently do just with no rng. Ta Dah, Blue Mage is still Blue Mage and you have a class.

    They act like it must be true and blue (hee!) to the original job of the FF series and it won't work here.
    They didn't make SMN like the other FF's were, this one sucks...so why can't they just make it
    different but still kinda the same as the orgins so we can actually give a crap about the damned job...

    So, you're asking to cut down Blue Mage to, what, 20 or so buttons to push at level 80, and a strict leveling order to get them, complete with a new series of job quests? And, I assume you want them to be viable in PvP, and balanced for the Duty Finder?

    Sounds fair.
