Any job in XI could tank with /nin! UTSUSEMI BROKE AS HEEEEEELL. Also just give DRK in 14 a kraken club and let it be a zerg tank.

REDNESS
At least it won't have that suicide problem many of FFXI's DRKs did. We all did it, too. No one can deny failing to notice their blood weapon falling off and continuing to go ham until their own death.
Dark Knight was a popular requested job. They also wanted to obviously add one of each role in Heavensward. Dark Knight was chosen although it ended up being a tank because MCH was the DPS. Look at how much Clemency steps on healer toes when it comes to HP management. They probably figured a tank with HP costs or mechanics based on absorbtion would be a little too variable for your average healer to deal with and difficult to design encounters around. It wouldn't bother skilled players much, but FFXIV is pretty accessible so they didn't want the average DRK to constantly be killing themselves with poor HP management. Thus, we got FFXIV DRK.
Instead, it seems like they tried to keep the whole theme of draining yourself to fuel your abilities via MP instead of HP. It still impacts (or at least impacted, in past expansions) your performance to a decent degree and you get the "theme" of self-draining but without the risk of killing yourself and pissing off your healer. I'm not necessarily saying I agree with that but it seems to be the path they took so that the job is at least in the slight spirit of the whole dark knight theme.
As for enfeebling and enhancing, they used to have stuff like this on other things. Slash/pierce/blunt resist debuffs, Halone's Rage lowering STR, WAR lowering damage dealt by 10%, the various abilities like virus and the other one that escapes me at the moment that lower STR/MND/DEX. I wouldn't mind DRK having this but odds are if they did in a game like FFXIV you would have to have other jobs that do these things too, and considering they removed it from PLD and WAR they don't want to go that route. The only things that remain that do this are the role abilities, most likely again so you get some small sense of a "support" ability even though tank/dps/healer trinity doesn't leave any room for support classes that FFXI's more flexible system did. Personally I loved red mage's role as a powerful enfeebler and jack of all trades, but you won't see that in a holy trinity style MMO.

The only identity FFXI DRK had during the 75 era was Blood Weapon + Soul Eater = piss off the WHM.

Yeah ... and your point is?You know where 魔法 is used ? In 魔法剣士 .
I even mentioned the Mystic Knight / Mahoukenshi (魔法剣士) job in my first post.
Seriously, at this point you are just trying to argue and be contrary for the sake of it and are no longer making sense, you're just throwing stuff out there.
Again, I'll take the word of a native Japanese speaker with an educational background in languages on matters of the Japanese language over some person on a video game forum that is likely using Google translate.

You're the one coming there to give a japanese lecture when the point was that the job of FFIII was not a Dark Knight. And that Mystic (or Magic) Knight was much more faithful in the context of Final Fantasy.
And, claiming that the 暗黒騎士 is the natural evolution of the 魔 剣士 is ignoring that the two have nothing in common in their skills of their name.

Y: I usually compare FFXIV with a theme park, but the Forbidden Land of Eureka won’t be a place where everyone would want to go. For example, there are people who don’t want to go to horror houses because they don’t see the point in getting scared on purpose. For example, on a date, the boyfriend might want to invite the girlfriend to go the horror house, but the girlfriend just doesn’t seem to find it fun. In other words, it’s not like everyone wants to go to the horror house, but there are people who just love the adrenalin rush they get from it. Think of Eureka as something like that.

Sigh .... You can lead a horse to water but it may still stick it's head in the sand convinced it is an ostrich.
I've provided the information in regards to translation and even vetted it with a native speaker. It's your choice to ignore it out of hubris.
I also never argued that the job from FF3 was the same as the later established classic job of Dark Knight, I stated it was the precursor to the job which Square Enix themselves reinforce by going back and replacing the original job with the later established Dark Knight in the remake.
I even said that arguing that the original FF3 version doesn't really fit into the series identify of the Dark Knight because it came before that identity was truly established was fine. Hell, I kind of even agree with that stance.
You are arguing against other peoples' points at me because you are so bent on trying to be right that you are ignoring what I actually say and instead swerve between arguments in hopes something will find purchase.
My entire point was that the translation you presented was inaccurate, which it is.
At this point I'm done with this back and forth as it is going nowhere.

My Apocalypse Dark Knight sticks it's nose up at your idea that I'm not a tank.
Never take things too seriously. It's seriously not worth it.
in the always on ultra haste, -damage reduction capped gear, weaponskill rework crazy game that XI is now? Sure. For the 1st oh...say, 15 years of the game? Hell no. Drk became a tank in the twighlight of the game in the same way that all 2handed melee classes became tanks. With -damage taken gear and stupendous damage capabilities built on mega WS buffs, EZ to attain super weapons and buff creeping throughout 20 years of the game. Drk couldnt tank squat for the early or prime years of the game that formed the jobs identity. You gonna tank some IT crabs in Boyada tree? Hell no. Nice humblebrag though.
